Henderson Libraries Mural Project
Entry Deadline: February 18, 2023.
- Seeking: Henderson Libraries is pleased to announce a call for art for a Nevada artist or artist team to design and create an interior mural on the back wall of the Paseo Verde Library Reading Room.
- The Paseo Verde Library Reading Room features a 1,000 sq. foot glass wall with comfortable seating, a stage, and space to host author visits, poetry readings, musical performances, and lectures. The proposed mural will be the stage backdrop and is an ideal spot to enhance an artistic venue. Mural themes related to libraries and literacy are preferred, but not required. Space for the mural measures 17 feet wide by 14.5 feet tall.
Reno Housing Authority Hawk View Innovation and Creative Station

- RHA is looking for artists who want to work hands-on with residents and staff of a low-income public housing complex to develop a collaborative art and garden space. The residents will vote for their top choices.
- Two types of projects: permanent art features on site and hosting art activities with residents in April.

WESTAF’s BIPOC Artist Fund

City of Reno Pioneer Center Artistic Bike Rack
Entry deadline: January 31, 2023
- The Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts and City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission invite you to submit your proposals for an artistic bike rack to be installed on the E.L. Cord Plaza at the Pioneer Center in Reno, Nevada.
- Materials proposed must be able to withstand weather and urban environment. Purchase price for the bike rack will be $2,500.00. Up to 2 artists’ designs may be selected.
- Must be an original, artist-designed bike rack created for permanent installation
- Must be functional
- Must be sturdy and deter vandalism
- Must fit in the designated location and not impede the bench, awning, or walkway
- We are open to considering all designs. The design does not have to be “performing arts” themed or “dome” themed, though it may be if the artist chooses to take inspiration from those themes.

Ely Film, Art & Music Festival Film Contest

- CALL FOR INDEPENDENT SHORT AND FEATURE FILMS
- Seeking: Amateur and Professional Short Film or Feature Length Film.
- “Amateur Filmmakers“: independent, inexperienced filmmakers, students, and/or novice filmmakers.
- “Professional Filmmakers” are 19+ independent but experienced, working filmmakers, film students, or having previously competed in film festival circuits/contests.
- Both sets of filmmakers can create ORIGINAL SHORT FILMS, no longer than 20 minutes – OR ORIGINAL FEATURE LENGTH FILMS from 50 minutes to 120 minutes.
First Peoples Fund Oglala Lakota Artpace Artist-in-Residence Program

- The First Peoples Fund proudly announces the inaugural Oglala Lakota Artspace (OLA) Artist-in-Residence Program. The Artist-in-Residency (AiR) program is designed to support Oglala Lakota culture bearers and artists working in the continuum of Lakota art, historically, traditionally, and contemporarily; to develop their practice, explore connections, and build collaborations with local artists and community.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be an enrolled member or provide proof of lineal descendency of the Oglala Lakota Tribe
- Applicants may be emerging or established culture bearers and/or artists.
- Applicant must be a practicing artist.
Western Arts Alliance Performing Arts Discovery International Showcase

- Call for applications for the 2022-23 cycle of their Performing Arts Discovery (PAD) program: an exciting international virtual showcase opportunity for U.S.-based performing artists who are ready to tour internationally.
- 25 artists/ensembles will be selected for the 2022 – 23 PAD cohort. Each artist/ensemble will receive support from our expert video production team to create a professionally-produced live performance video which PAD will promote and showcase on a virtual cloud-based platform for international markets.
City of Reno Canyon Flats Video Wall

- The City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission (RACC) is seeking video/digital media art to be displayed on a large-scale video wall facing Virginia Street in downtown Reno. This call is open to all artists working with video, regardless of location.
- The wall is visible to the public from Virginia Street, the main thoroughfare through downtown Reno
- The video wall is approximately 12’ x 6.75’ and has sound projected outside along the sidewalk.
- Due to the transitory nature of the audience, works up to 5 minutes in length are preferable.
- elected artists will work with the program manager to adapt selected work for optimal presentation. Selected artists will receive a $250 honorarium.
Pen America Emerging Voices Fellowship
Entry Deadline: January 31, 2023
- Twelve fellows will receive an honorarium of $1,500. Fellows will be paired with a mentor to serve as a source of guidance for the project.
- The Emerging Voices Fellowship provides a virtual five-month immersive mentorship program for early-career writers from communities that are traditionally underrepresented in the publishing world. The program is committed to cultivating the careers of Black writers, and serves writers who identify as Indigenous, persons of color, LGBTQ+, immigrants, writers with disabilities, and those living outside of urban centers. Through curated one-on-one mentorship and introductions to editors, agents, and publishers, in addition to workshops on editing, marketing, and creating a platform, the five-month fellowship nurtures creative community, provides a professional skill-set, and demystifies the path to publication—with the ultimate goal of diversifying the publishing and media industries.
NCHWA: Health Access Grant
Entry Deadline: January 31, 2023
- In recognition of the importance of the Silver State’s community of artists, Nevada artists are invited to apply to be chosen to create artworks that are unique, accurate and will serve to increase vaccine awareness. Selected artists will then create artwork such as visual art, comics, songs, and other culturally relevant formats that speak to underserved rural and urban communities
- Thirteen recipients will be selected and awarded $2,000 to create unique, accurate art to increase vaccine awareness in culturally competent media
- Each proposed project length must not exceed 50 hours of work to ensure fair compensation
- One page application plus portfolio items will be used in the selection process

VSA Playwright Discovery Program 2023
Deadline: Wednesday, January 4, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. ET
- For: Young writers with disabilities enrolled in high school (generally, ages 14-19)
- Call for: a ten-minute script for the opportunity to participate in a playwrights program.
- Winners will receive a financial award ($1,000 USD) and work with industry professionals to further develop their script, receive coaching/mentorship, and participate in networking opportunities.

Jack Hazard Fellowship for Teachers
Deadline: January 4, 2023
- For: Nine fellowships of $5,000 each will be given annually to high school teachers working on an ongoing fiction, creative nonfiction, or memoir project.
- Eligibility: Full-time instructors at accredited U.S. high schools teaching in the 2022–23 academic year who are contracted to return to their schools in fall 2023 are eligible.
- Submit a prose writing sample of up to 5,000 words, a brief bio, a curriculum vitae, contact information for the head of school, and a project description by January 9, 2023. There is no entry fee.
