The Sierra Nevada University Galleries are thrilled to present an online evening with Alok Vaid-Menon! ALOK will speak about their latest book “Beyond the Gender Binary,” discuss their art practice, and host a Q+A.

This event is free and open to the public, simply register on Eventbrite to receive the login information. You will need to be logged into a Zoom account to access the event. We ask that all attendees act in kind and respectful ways during the event. If you bring hate into the Zoom Room, you will be removed.

ALOK (they/them) is a gender non-conforming writer and performance artist. Their distinctive style and poetic challenge to the gender binary have been internationally renowned. As a mixed-media artist Alok uses poetry, prose, comedy, performance, fashion design, and portraiture to explore themes of gender, race, trauma, belonging, and the human condition. They are the author of Femme in Public (2017) and Beyond the Gender Binary (2020). In 2019 they were honored as one of NBC’s Pride 50 and Out Magazine’s OUT 100. They have presented their work in more than 40 countries.

Sierra Nevada University is the only four-year college at Lake Tahoe.
