VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System and the City of Reno’s Arts and Culture Division have teamed up to offer veterans a chance to demonstrate their artistic talents in the visual arts at the McKinley Arts & Culture Center, Gallery East and West. The local event is part of the 2022 National Veterans Creative Arts Festival. The exhibition will run from August 15 – October 7, 2022 in McKinley Arts and Culture Center, Gallery East and West. The public is invited to attend the artists’ reception on September 22 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.

VA medical facilities incorporate creative arts into their therapy programs to further the rehabilitation goals for both inpatients and outpatients. This annual competition recognizes the progress and recovery made through that therapy and raises the visibility of the creative achievements of Veterans. The first-place winners will advance to the national level where they will compete with entries submitted by Veterans from other VA facilities from across the country.
