The exhibition is on view at Nevada State University through Dec. 4\, 2026. \nThis traveling exhibition\, curated by the Nevada Arts Council’s Artist Services Program\, features 2023 fellows: Jeffrey Burden of Las Vegas\, Glynn Cartledge of Reno\, Gig Depio of Las Vegas\, Miya Hannan of Reno\, Brent Holmes of Las Vegas\, and Bobbie Ann Howell of Las Vegas. Each artist created work independently of one another and with no intention of ever appearing together; yet\, when shown alongside one another\, the exhibit reveals how an artist’s place\, time and environment can create unexpected and unintended connections that share human experiences. This exhibit brings together an extraordinary collection of unique artworks that span multiple media—from intimate drawings and bold paintings to intricate textiles\, delicate cut paper compositions\, and innovative digital creations. \nThe prestigious Nevada Arts Council Fellowship Award provides meaningful financial support and enhanced public recognition to exceptional Nevada artists\, fostering their continued pursuit of artistic excellence and creativity. \nThe exhibit is part of the Nevada Touring Initiative (NTI) Traveling Exhibition Program \, which delivers high-quality visual arts exhibits to communities throughout the state. DESCRIPTION:Through German chamber music for clarinet\, horn\, and piano\, trace the twilight of late Romanticism as its lush\, expressive world gives way to the stark new language of modernism on the brink of war. Featuring works by Robert Schumann\, Franz Strauss\, Carl Reinecke\, and Paul Hindemith.\n\nPianist Cynthia Bauhof-Williams has performed at the Aspen Music Festival\, the International String Conference in Graz\, Austria\, and Lausanne\, Switzerland\, and with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at Walt Disney Hall and the Hollywood Bowl.\n\nClarinetist Helen Goode regularly performs with the Los Angeles Philharmonic\, Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra\, Los Angeles Opera\,Los Angeles Master Chorale\, Pacific Symphony\, Pasadena Symphony\, Long Beach Symphony\, Long Beach Opera\, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra\, and the Santa Barbara Symphony. She is a member of the California Philharmonic Orchestra.\n\nHornist Michael Manley toured with The New York City Opera National Company\, as well performed with the National tours of “Miss Saigon” and “Les Miserables.” He performed the entire run of “Disney’s The Lion King–Las Vegas\,” and is a Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition winner\, with SouthSpoon Winds. Manley is a Nevada Arts Council teaching artist.

DESCRIPTION:The Reno Jazz Orchestra will celebrate the legendary women who helped shape jazz with “Divas of Jazz” on Oct. 11\, 2026\, at Nightingale Concert Hall at the University of Nevada\, Reno. \nThe two-hour performance will pay tribute to iconic vocalists including Billie Holiday\, Ella Fitzgerald\, and Sarah Vaughan\, while celebrating the artistry and enduring influence of women in jazz. \n“The concert is designed to showcase the profound influence these divas had on the jazz genre\,” said Greg Johnson\, music director of the Reno Jazz Orchestra. “We’re excited to bring our guest vocalist\, Kathleen Grace\, to the stage to capture the spirit and artistry of these extraordinary artists.” \nGrace\, a vocalist\, songwriter and educator\, brings a distinctive style that bridges jazz\, folk and Americana. Her expressive vocals and authentic approach make her a natural fit for an evening celebrating some of the most influential women in music. \n“Kathleen Grace is a perfect fit for this concert and complements the talents and legacy of the legendary divas of yesteryear\,” Johnson said. \nThe evening’s setlist will include such favorites as “You Make Me Feel So Young\,” “Pennies From Heaven\,” “Time After Time\,” “Chega de Saudade\,” and “Almost Like Being in Love.” \nJohnson will lead the 17-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra in an evening designed for longtime jazz fans and newcomers alike. The performance begins at 4 p.m. Oct. 11. Tickets are $50 to $60 and include reserved seating. DESCRIPTION:Clark County Public Art Presents Para las Hijas Mayores (for the Eldest Daughters) by Yazmin Garcia. This exhibition explores the responsibilities\, expectations\, and histories carried by eldest daughters. Drawing from her experience as a first-generation Mexican American\, Garcia reflects on growing up as the helper\, caregiver\, protector\, and peacekeeper. Through mixed-media paintings rooted in personal and family experiences\, she moves through identity\, sacrifice\, ancestry\, grief\, motherhood\, healing\, and community. \nGarcia describes each painting as its own story and the exhibition as a complete book. At its center is the realization that healing is not a destination\, but a path toward belonging. By looking at what has been inherited and choosing what to carry forward\, Para las Hijas Mayores creates space to slow down\, reflect\, and recognize pieces of ourselves in the experiences of others. \nPara las Hijas Mayores is the first exhibition of SOLO SERIES FY27\, a Clark County Public Arts program providing four local emerging and under-recognized artists with the opportunity to present solo exhibitions at Pearson Community Center Gallery.

Written in the final months of World War II\, its serene\, pastoral character and soaring melodies offer both intimacy and grace\, creating a timeless dialogue between soloist and orchestra that feels effortless yet deeply heartfelt.
