DESCRIPTION:Left of Center Art Gallery \nIs pleased to present:\nPreservation of Life\, Art and Culture\nWork by artist Djibril N’Doye \nDisplay run: January 17 – March 23\, 2024 \nReception: Saturday\, January 20\, 2024\nNoon – 3:00 p.m. \nGallery Hours: Tuesday\, by appointment\nWednesday – Friday\, noon – 4:00 p.m.\nSaturday\, 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. \nAll exhibits are free to the public.\nLeft of Center Art Gallery (LOC) is pleased to present\, Preservation of Life\, Art\, and Culture\, featuring the artwork of Djibril N’Doye. Originally from Senegal\, N’Doye is well known for his wood burning expertise. This body of artwork honors the Dogon people in Mali\, who are known all over the world for their collectable wood carvings\, terra cotta\, and bronze sculptures. The Dogon bring a large-scale contribution to the art world and also to African Symbolism. \nThe Dogon region is now overrun by terrorists who have destroyed and vandalized artwork and historical archives in the name of religion. A society without culture will not thrive. This exhibit is a tribute to the people and the art of Dogon. It will remain up through Black History Month. \nLeft of Center Art Gallery\n2207 W. DESCRIPTION:On display February 19 through April 12\, 2024. \nThe exhibit features 14 two-dimensional artworks curated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas’ Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art’s permanent collection. This exhibit is funded by Nevada Art Council and National Endowment for the Arts. \nIf you would like to participate in a future exhibit\, fill out and return the Artist Interest Form City Hall\, along with your art submissions. \nStop by the gallery during regular City Hall hours\, Monday through Thursday\, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.; closed holidays. \nFor more information\, call us at 702-267-4849.
