SUMMARY:Performing Arts Series presents Kalani Pe’a
DESCRIPTION:The Performing Arts Series presents Kalani Pe‘a. Three-time Grammy Award winner and 2022 Male Vocalist of the Year of the Hawai’i Na Hoku Awards\, Kalani Pe’a is a not-to-be-missed performer. With contagious charisma\, a gorgeous voice\, powerful presence\, and captivating style\, this is a performance to remember. Kalani Pe‘a will perform alongside local hula dancers from Ka Pā Hula ʻO Kawaiolanoelaniokane. With his passion for perpetuating Hawaiian language and culture\, his music features his original and classic Hawaiian songs alongside his affectionate bilingual (Hawaiian/English) arrangements of his R&B favorites – a nod to the western music he grew up with. Kalani Pe’a made his New York debut to a sold-out audience in 2020\, the first Hawaiian artist to perform in Lincoln Center’s American Songbook. Self-described as “Hawaiian contemporary soul”\, Kalani Pe‘a was awarded a prestigious Native Arts & Cultures Foundation Fellowship in 2018 and named an Artist in Business Leadership Fellow 2019 by the First Peoples Fund.
