SUMMARY:A Primer on Copyright and Licensing for Visual Artists - Hosted by Artists Rights Society
DESCRIPTION:Learn about artists’ rights with Cara Erdman from the Artists Rights Society. \nHow do artists manage their intellectual property? What works are protected by copyright? What does “public domain” mean? Empower yourself with knowledge on the basics of copyright and licensing! In this session\, we’ll go over key terminology\, how to approach licensing\, and frequently asked questions about copyright and IP\, followed by a brief Q&A. \nErdman is licensing executive and manager of membership services at Artists Rights Society\, where she works with artists to demystify the world of copyright and handles licensing deals in a number of industries including consumer products\, fashion & apparel\, museums & education and more. Previously\, she worked in development at CUE Art Foundation\, supporting their programs for emerging and under-recognized artists in New York City.  She holds a B.A. in Art History from Barnard College. \nThis workshop is free and geared towards visual artists.
