SUMMARY:To The Left
DESCRIPTION:The College of Southern Nevada\, School of Arts & Letters\, and Department of Fine Arts in collaboration with the City of Henderson\, will host a multi media group exhibition by Nevada-based artists\, Aimee Coello\, Camile Lovaz\, Rose Miller\, Niko Navalta\, Jessica Samaniego\, Bella Sanabria\, Montaysia Yuneek\, and Arianna Zaremehrjardi titled To The Left in the Art Gallery at the City of Henderson’s Debra March Center of Excellence. To The Left will open on Friday\, Feb. 13\, 2026\, and run through Saturday\, June 20\, 2026. A special panel discussion and artist reception will take place on Thursday\, June 11\, 2026\, starting at 6 p.m. \nTo The Left explores the fertile ground between the tangible world and the limitless potential of “the possible.” By presenting a collection of alternative realities\, the exhibition serves as a portal into spaces where the rules of the everyday are rewritten. This multi-media group show bridges the gap between our current existence and the speculative futures or parallel dimensions envisioned by the artists. Each work functions as a unique snapshot of another universe\, woven together into an open narrative that challenges viewers to look beyond the horizon of their own reality and consider the radical potential of the imagined. \nThe exhibition features a diverse array of perspectives\, ranging from the surreal to the deeply personal. Navalta uses graphic narratives to replace human figures with rabbits\, exploring the darker facets of the human condition\, while Zaremehrjardi’s paintings navigate social conditioning through figures of ambiguous gender. Miller and Coello offer contrasting approaches to construction and escapism—Miller through the tactile layering of found imagery and Coello via an alter ego navigating deceptive\, child-like environments. Rounding out the collection\, Lovaz investigates the friction between the divine and the human\, using fictional muses to critique the cultural idolization of young Latinas. Together\, these artists transform the gallery into a fragmented map of worlds that might have been\, or may yet be. \nThe Debra March Center of Excellence is a partnership between the City of Henderson and the College of Southern Nevada. Located in West Henderson\, this facility is a critical feature for diversifying our industry by fulfilling a need for high-skilled\, advanced manufacturing training. This specialized training facility is a valuable resource for both businesses that want to relocate to the area\, as well as existing locally based companies looking to expand. The Center of Excellence is located in the burgeoning West Henderson area\, which boasts the popular Henderson Executive Airport and is home to a wide range of distribution centers\, corporate headquarters\, and industrial parks. \nThe CSN Arts Galleries are free\, family friendly\, and open to the public. Gallery hours of the Debra March Center of Excellence Art Gallery are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Debra March Center of Excellence Art Gallery is closed on Saturday and Sunday\, Nevada state holidays\, and between CSN academic terms. The Debra March Center of Excellence is located at 2200 Via Inspirada\, Henderson\, Nevada 89044. \n“This program/project was supported\, in part\, by the Nevada Arts Council\, a state agency\, which receives support from the National Endowment for the Arts\, a federal agency\, and the state of Nevada.” \nFor more information\, please call 702-651-4146 or visit http://www.csn.edu/artgallery

The 2026 series works represent a range of artist and movement approaches locally\, nationally\, and internationally: a work blending Colombian folkloric dance with queer and experimental movement to explore identity\, resilience\, and collective transformation (Alexis Restrepo; Medellín\, Colombia; Otredanza compañía artística LGBTI de Medellín)\, a performance exploring the struggles of India’s LGBTQ community and family abandondment (Sudeshna Dey; West Bengal\, India)\, and a duet examining the challenges of communication and connection in modern life (Yan Longdan; Chongqing\, China). \nAbout MDD’s Virtual Salon Performance Series for Social Change \nFounded in 2010\, MDD’s Virtual Salon Performance Series for Social Change is a conversation facilitated by curator\, choreographer\, and scholar Mark DeGarmo\, Ph.D.\, with audiences and diverse global dance makers presenting works-in-process. It is a unique opportunity to demystify the creation of choreography and to enjoy a wide range of performance approaches\, genres\, and styles. VSPS presents under-represented and under-recognized dance makers across New York City and state\, the USA\, and internationally. Since February 2019\, MDD has presented in 42 salons\, including 2 Virtual International Arts Festivals\, featuring 566 total artists from 23 states and 31 countries. Past audiences and dance makers have remarked: \n“The salon was a warm\, welcoming\, positive environment!” \n“I loved the convenience of watching the performance on Zoom!” \nAbout Mark DeGarmo Dance \nMark DeGarmo Dance began operations in 1982\, incorporated in 1987\, and celebrates its 39th anniversary in 2026 as a leading New York City nonprofit dance organization located in Manhattan’s Lower East Side at NYC-owned The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center (The Clemente). President Barack Obama commended DeGarmo and MDD for your service to your community and the nation. The National Endowment for the Arts deemed MDD’s NYC dance education program for under- resourced public elementary students living under the federal poverty rate “a national model.” National Dance Education Organization research shows that a mere 1-7% of USA elementary schools have such a dance education program as our Partnerships in Literacy through Dance & Creativity. \nhttps://markdegarmodance.org \nFollow Mark DeGarmo Dance on Facebook\, Instagram\, LinkedIn\, YouTube\, and Vimeo.  \nOur programs are supported\, in part\, by private and public funds from American Online Giving Foundation; Jody and John Arnhold; Benevity; Frances and Benjamin Benenson Foundation; Bernheim Foundation; Blackbaud Giving Fund; Lisa and Dick Cashin; PJ and Dawn Dearden; Rev. SUMMARY:Art With Nature Art
DESCRIPTION:Nov. 17 – Dec. 23\, 2025  \nArt Reception: Nov. 20\, 2025\, 5-7 p.m.  \nArt with Nature places emphasis on the basics of art-making. This means engaging creatively with an ecological and no-waste approach – refuse\, reduce\, reuse\, recycle\, in that order of priority. Wildflower is an ecosystem of decentralized Montessori micro-schools that support children\, teachers\, and parents. Wildflower aspires to give all children and families the opportunity to choose high-quality\, beautiful learning environments as they follow life’s unfolding journey. Desert Peach Montessori School offers equitable access to a nurturing\, authentic Montessori environment. They inspire curiosity\, emotional intelligence\, and a love for learning while fostering independence\, peace\, and community.  \nThis exhibit will take place at the Gallery East.
