SUMMARY:MOVED - Creative Aging Series: Story Telling & Writing Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Writing Our Stories\, Writing Our Lives \nIn this free four-week creative writing workshop\, you’ll learn to turn meaningful thoughts into written stories with writing prompts and creative inspiration. Each workshop will build on the last with opportunities to share your stories. We will culminate our work together by presenting a public reading of work produced. Friends and family will hear from you\, and we’ll all celebrated your special voices. Join us! \nParticipants need to commit to attending all session. For first session\, participants should bring a personal item that has special meaning for them. Please don’t bring anything too valuable or fragile! \nDays: Wednesdays Aug. 7\, Aug. 14\, Aug. 21\, Aug. 28 \nTime: 1-2 p.m. \nLocation: Carson City Senior Center – Zephyr Room \nWorkshop Presenter: Gailmarie Pahmeier\, now emeritus faculty\, taught creative writing at the University of Nevada\, Reno. In 2015\, she was appointed Reno’s first Poet Laureate and was inducted into the Nevada Writers Hall of Fame. In 2017\, she was selected as Outstanding Teacher in the Humanities. The governor of Nevada appointed her as the state Poet Laureate in 2021.
