DESCRIPTION:The College of Southern Nevada\, School of Arts & Letters\, and Department of Fine Arts in collaboration with the City of Henderson\, will host a multi media group exhibition by Nevada-based artists\, Aimee Coello\, Camile Lovaz\, Rose Miller\, Niko Navalta\, Jessica Samaniego\, Bella Sanabria\, Montaysia Yuneek\, and Arianna Zaremehrjardi titled To The Left in the Art Gallery at the City of Henderson’s Debra March Center of Excellence. To The Left will open on Friday\, Feb. 13\, 2026\, and run through Saturday\, June 20\, 2026. A special panel discussion and artist reception will take place on Thursday\, June 11\, 2026\, starting at 6 p.m. \nTo The Left explores the fertile ground between the tangible world and the limitless potential of “the possible.” By presenting a collection of alternative realities\, the exhibition serves as a portal into spaces where the rules of the everyday are rewritten. This multi-media group show bridges the gap between our current existence and the speculative futures or parallel dimensions envisioned by the artists. Each work functions as a unique snapshot of another universe\, woven together into an open narrative that challenges viewers to look beyond the horizon of their own reality and consider the radical potential of the imagined. \nThe exhibition features a diverse array of perspectives\, ranging from the surreal to the deeply personal. Navalta uses graphic narratives to replace human figures with rabbits\, exploring the darker facets of the human condition\, while Zaremehrjardi’s paintings navigate social conditioning through figures of ambiguous gender. Miller and Coello offer contrasting approaches to construction and escapism—Miller through the tactile layering of found imagery and Coello via an alter ego navigating deceptive\, child-like environments. Rounding out the collection\, Lovaz investigates the friction between the divine and the human\, using fictional muses to critique the cultural idolization of young Latinas. Together\, these artists transform the gallery into a fragmented map of worlds that might have been\, or may yet be. \nThe Debra March Center of Excellence is a partnership between the City of Henderson and the College of Southern Nevada. Located in West Henderson\, this facility is a critical feature for diversifying our industry by fulfilling a need for high-skilled\, advanced manufacturing training. This specialized training facility is a valuable resource for both businesses that want to relocate to the area\, as well as existing locally based companies looking to expand. The Center of Excellence is located in the burgeoning West Henderson area\, which boasts the popular Henderson Executive Airport and is home to a wide range of distribution centers\, corporate headquarters\, and industrial parks. \nThe CSN Arts Galleries are free\, family friendly\, and open to the public. Gallery hours of the Debra March Center of Excellence Art Gallery are from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. DESCRIPTION:The Carson Valley Arts Council’s 2025-2026 Concert Series resumes will music from Kristyn Harris on Friday\, Feb. 13\, 2026\, at 7 p.m. at the CVIC Hall in Minden. \nKristyn Harris\, a Texas-bred musical powerhouse out of Burleson\, Texas\, has been named the International Western Music Association Entertainer of the Year six times and is the youngest person to have received this honor. She is especially recognized for her powerful voice\, swing rhythm guitar chops\, songwriting\, yodeling\, and energetic stage presence. \nAlthough Western swing\, cowboy songs and a little bit of classic country are her primary staples\, you might even hear strains of big band or folk artists in her music\, and she also enjoys sharing her faith through gospel songs. \nMembership is $22\, general tickets are $25; $28 at the door; and children younger than 18 are free with a paid adult ticket. DESCRIPTION:Stop by Darkshot Coffee\, grab a hot or cold beverage\, check out local art\, and meet the Artist In Action: \nEileen Fuller \nTuesday\, Feb. 17\, 2026\, from 9 a.m.-noon. \nLocated at:\nDarkshot Coffee\nIn the lobby\, 300 E. 2nd St.\, #101\nReno\, NV 89501 \nAbout The Artist: \nEileen Fuller is principally a watercolor artist\, with recent forays into pastels and other multiple-media art. She began drawing and painting as a preschooler. Although the materials were put on the back shelf\, Eileen continued to return to her art throughout her life. \nAfter Eileen’s family grew\, she reawakened the artist within by taking numerous workshops and immersion in the artist community in Northern Nevada. She retired from the banking industry in 2003 and never looked back! She is a longtime member of the Sierra Watercolor Society and the Latimer Art Club (established in 1921.) In 2021 she organized four art shows celebrating the club’s 100th anniversary. Eileen is also a member of the Artists Co-operative of Reno since 2010. She is continuing a three-year term as its president. \nLandscapes are her favorite subject. And with the variety of scenery in the surrounding area\, there is no shortage of places she likes to paint on site or photograph for incorporation into works to be finished in her studio. Eileen also loves to paint while traveling. \nAs a teacher of basic to intermediate watercolor\, she believes that each of us was born with creative abilities. These abilities may be dormant but can be brought out if we are willing to make the effort. Making mugs is something all ceramic artists take comfort\, joy\, and pride in\, each for their own reasons. This is not unlike living in Reno and Northern Nevada\, where we delight in Reno each in our own way\, making it our own\, stamping it with our signature. But our individual marks\, left on mugs\, left on our town\, can really only be understood when seen as a whole\, as if we’re all working towards the same unknown goal. \nOur mugs represent what Reno means to us\, the storied past\, shared present\, and an always uncertain but collaborative and communal future. Fill your cup up with whatever you want\, for what you get out of Reno is a magnification and reflection of what you put in. \n“The Wedge Ceramics Studio was started in September 2011 by Sutter and Samantha Stremmel. DESCRIPTION:Curated By: Julian Kilker\, Checko Salgado\, and Paula Garrett   \nFeb. 23- April 17\, 2026  \nReception: Wednesday\, March 4\, 2026\, 5-7 p.m.   \nOn the 10-year anniversary of the Basin and Range National Monument\, three friends curated a documentary photography and video exhibit documenting this remote region of Nevada—one located several hours by car north of Las Vegas and Southeast of Reno. The monument features 1\,100 square miles of spectacular undeveloped mountains and valleys in southeastern Nevada\, and its protected status preserves geological and historical features for future generations while continuing to provide access for recreation\, grazing\, and military training.   \nThe collaboration behind this exhibit echoes the cooperation among Nevadan volunteers\, artists\, researchers\, locals\, and visitors who enjoy and help protect our state’s wealth. Basin and Range National Monument is the result of an innovative collaboration among multiple stakeholders. At the Heart of Nevada parallels this creation\, focusing on multiple uses of the land and collaborations among these stakeholders. Among the photographs and videos by multiple contributors are representations of geology and history\, ranching\, volunteering\, recreation\, and artistic and military engagement. The CSN Student Union Art Galleries are free\, family-friendly\, and open to the public. \nSpeaking of his life\, Montenegro says\, “I was born in Central America in the early 1980s. My father was a lawyer\, and he got into some trouble\, and my mother was an accountant\, and she did not like the government at the time. They immigrated to the United States sometime in the late 80s because it seemed better economically\, and they ended up working in casinos. I have two younger siblings who are nurses\, and they are also married to nurses. I once almost passed out giving blood and looking at a documentary where there was blood\, and I was not good at math in school\, but I liked to draw. My Spanish vocabulary is not that good\, but I can speak and read some of it at a basic level. I prefer to talk in English if I have to. It’s impressive how people can interpret words and images differently when they see things from their own point of view\, and how their upbringing\, education\, and beliefs affect that point of view.” \nRegarding his work\, Montenegro continues\, “We live in the richest country in the world\, but it’s a pyramid scheme. I had surgery with insurance and paid an inflated amount\, only to get another bill in the mail. I wish we had decent public transportation because gas is expensive\, and people drive irresponsibly. I wanted to rent\, but my mortgage is cheaper because I moved into a house before the pandemic. Home insurance and car insurance are also a scam\, but I need them just in case. I don’t buy juice anymore\, or cereal\, or Mexican Coca-Cola. The price went up\, and my Doctor said I should eat fruit and I should just drink water\, because I need to worry about diabetes. He said juice is a scam. \nI started using things like newspapers and food packaging because they relate to consumption and the economy. Food packaging is discardable\, and it can be aesthetically pleasing depending on how it is designed. Advertisements can be beautiful or seductive\, but the food flyers that I get in the mail are not considered beautiful. I am not saying they are either. I see some graffiti around town while driving\, and I like the bold colors and line work. Some of it does not make sense and feels abstract or nonrepresentational. I don’t really remember what I thought when I first saw Andy Warhol’s soup can art in Professor Rico’s Art History class some twenty years ago. I am sure that at the time\, I thought the book and his lectures were all gobbledygook because “art is supposed to be beautiful”. \nThe CSN Student Union Art Galleries are free\, family-friendly\, and open to the public. A special Gallery Talk and Artist Reception with light refreshments will take place on Thursday\, Feb. 19\, 2026\, at 6 p.m. in the Henderson Campus Student Union Art Gallery. The CSN Student Union Art Galleries are free\, family-friendly\, and open to the public. \nLauren Myers Reese is an artist\, educator\, and arts administrator\, and currently serves as an adjunct faculty member in the Art & Art History Program at the College of Southern Nevada. Reese received his Master of Fine Arts in visual art from the University of Nevada\, Las Vegas in 2022 and his Bachelor in Fine Arts in Studio Art from the University of Oklahoma\, Norman\, in 2012. Reese is a co-founder of the Vegas Institute for Contemporary Engagement\, a research lab for art and experimentation. Before attending UNLV\, Reese worked in a variety of roles\, including independent curator\, arts writer\, nonprofit administrator\, factory worker\, educator\, and art gallery director. Reese’s visual work has been shown across the United States\, Canada\, Mexico\, Scotland\, Estonia\, and Colombia. His writings are found in the Jewish Studies Journal\, Art Focus Oklahoma\, Southwest Contemporary\, and Settlers and Nomads. \nSpeaking of his work\, Reese states\, “This body of work layers texts from a variety of sources on the history of Nevada. These books focus on early and pre-Statehood Nevada\, as well as contemporary issues like gendered work\, sexuality\, labor rights\, and equality as it relates to the recent history of Las Vegas and Nevada. Combining historical nonfiction and accounts of the Las Vegas and Nevada area pre- and post-statehood\, the work layers text to create alternative narratives\, and puts a highlight on the missing parts of the narratives from traditional histories of the West. By layering texts from both historical first-hand accounts\, primary sources\, and contemporary artists living in Las Vegas\, the words combine and layer to create a miasma of time. Time collapses as texts from a variety of writers and eras are layered on top of each other. The CSN Student Union Art Galleries are free\, family-friendly\, and open to the public. \nOriginally from Illinois\, Sherry Watkins has lived in Las Vegas for nearly 50 years. She attended Clark High School\, the University of Nevada\, Las Vegas\, and the College of Southern Nevada. Watkins has been painting for over a decade\, working primarily in abstract styles. Her work explores various techniques\, including fluid pouring and original design methods. Watkins uses a wide range of tools and materials to achieve distinctive effects and embraces experimentation and creative risk in her process. While she occasionally paints traditional subjects—such as characters\, still lifes\, and landscapes—Watkins is most drawn to the expressive freedom of abstraction. \nSpeaking of her work\, Watkins states\, “Most of my work comes from trial and error\, a willingness to explore new methods\, opening my boundaries to include what I might not at first be comfortable with\, and sometimes just pure luck. I enjoy the freedom of abstract art. I like the power of creating something that did not previously exist. I have AD/HD. When I was doing more “traditional” painting\, such as still life and landscapes\, I ended up with a lot of unfinished paintings. I would be on to the next idea before finishing what I was working on. With abstract art\, only the artist knows when it is truly finished. DESCRIPTION:Mark DeGarmo Dance (MDD) broadcasts the 2nd salon of its 16th annual Virtual Salon Performance Series for Social Change (VSPS) 2026\, exploring the theme “Dance & Social Change” Thursday\, March 5th\, 2026\, at 4 p.m. PST via a Live Online Interactive Zoom Broadcast. * \nMDD’s salon Thursday\, March 5th is a unique evening of original movement and dance performance works-in-process with facilitated audience reflection. Curator and facilitator Mark DeGarmo shares: “VSPS is an opportunity to view and contribute to works-in-process of under-recognized dance and movement artists that break\, cross\, or don’t recognize boundaries; stir up the mix; and face global issues across cultures\, countries\, and continents.” The March 5th salon features Audrey Baran (NC)\, Nick Daniels (PA)\, Marianna Koytsan (NYC)\, and (Otredanza compañia artística LGBTI de Medellín) Alexis Restrepo (Antioquia\, Colombia). The artists will present a range of works-in-process exploring the VSPS 2026 theme “Dance and Social Change.” Audrey Baran focuses on mass shootings\, school shootings\, and the call to action against preventable violence. Nick Daniels explores technology’s impact on communication\, civility\, and memory. Marianna Koytsan reflects on community interconnectedness\, solidarity\, and resilience. Alexis Restrepo reimagines Colombian folkloric dance through queer and experimental aesthetics\, and addresses vulnerability\, resilience\, and social transformation. \nAbout MDD’s March VSPS Artists \nAudrey Baran is a Charlotte\, NC-based dance artist and Artistic/Executive Director of Baran Dance. She holds an MFA in Dance from Hollins University and a BA in Dance with a Graduate Certificate in Anti-Racism in Urban Education from UNC Charlotte. Her work has been featured with Joffrey Ballet’s Winning Works (2022) and Charlotte Ballet’s Innovative: Direct from the LAB. A 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher and MUNZ FLOOR® coach\, she centers movement and mindfulness across diverse bodies. \nNick M. Daniels is a celebrated Pittsburgh\, PA-based choreographer\, multimedia artist\, and the founding Artistic Director of The D.A.N.A. Movement Ensemble (Dancers Against Normal Actions)\, a company he launched in 1991 to confront and challenge societal norms through movement. A graduate of Slippery Rock University with a BFA in Dance\, Daniels has been celebrated as a Pittsburgh Cultural Treasure and recognized as a pioneer in exploring themes of race\, sexuality\, and identity in performance. \nMarianna Koytsan is a New York City–based street-style and contemporary dancer originally from Russia\, who has been performing locally since 2012. Her work has been featured at iconic venues including City Center\, Barnard College\, LaGuardia Performing Arts Center\, Little Island\, and Dance Parade NYC. She is a founding member of Neta-Kinetics\, a dynamic dance company. The company builds intensely physical\, character-driven worlds that weave together the diverse movement backgrounds of its artists.  \nFounded in Medellín in 2010\, Otredanza Compañía Artística LGBTI (Antioquia\, Colombia) blends Colombian folkloric dance with experimental and queer performance to celebrate diversity and foster social change.
