SUMMARY:A.V.A. Ballet Theatre and the Reno Phil's Swan Lake
DESCRIPTION:Reno\, Nevada – A.V.A. Ballet Theatre presents the classic Swan Lake on April 11 and 12 at the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts. The Reno Philharmonic Orchestra will perform the haunting score to this wonderful ballet with Laura Jackson conducting. Re-staged and re-choreographed by Alexander Van Alstyne\, Swan Lake is the story of Odette who was turned into a swan by the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart. She tells the handsome Prince Siegfried that the only way the spell can be broken is if a man\, pure in heart\, pledges his love to her. Von Rothbart tries to keep the two apart but in the end they ascend to the heavens above Swan Lake. \nProfessional dancers from Ballet West will star in the lead roles. The large cast includes many talented dancers from four different ballet studios in the Reno area. \nThe Saturday April 11 performance will be held at 7 p.m. and the Sunday\, April 12 performance will be at 2 p.m. Ticket prices are from $32 to $62 with discounts for seniors and children.
