SUMMARY:SOLO SERIES: Linda Shaffer Reception
DESCRIPTION:About the Exhibit:\n “All Love” is a solo exhibition by Linda Shaffer at the Pearson Community Center from December 15th\, 2023\, through February 9th\, 2024. \n“All Love\,” by Linda Shaffer is an exhibit inspired by personal relationships\, universal love\, and gratitude. While attending school to become a registered nurse\, Linda got the opportunity to take her first pottery classes in Manitou Springs\, Colorado and loved the classes. After graduation from nursing school\, she finally purchased a wheel and threw pots. To advance her skills\, Linda decided to take college level pottery classes– which led to countless other college art classes. \n  \nReception Date and Details:\nSaturday\, January 6th\, 2024\, from 2pm-4pm\nLight refreshments will be provided. SUMMARY:Clark County Public Arts Presents: Black Life Ordinary Art Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Ordinariness can be such a freeing and beautiful thing. Existing and being able to express oneself without any pressures happens so rarely and this exhibition seeks to celebrate that freedom. Black Life Ordinary is the theme for the annual Black History Month juried exhibition for 2024 and is informed by the work of Black scholars behind these ideas of the mundane. The artists in this show are showing Blackness without any conditions or stipulations. We will also be featuring poetry\, live music\, food\, refreshments\, and a photobooth! This is one event you don’t want to miss! \nThis exhibition was juried by Claytee White\, the inaugural director of the Oral History Research Center at UNLV Libraries. In this role\, she collects the history of Las Vegas by gathering memories of events and experiences from long-time residents. Up to the present\, these oral history projects include Early Las Vegans\, Latinx\, Asian American Pacific Islanders\, Jews\, and African Americans. \nBlack Life Ordinary features the following artists and performers: \nSamuel Akem\, Biya the Painter\, Dyron Boyd\, Karen Buford\, Tamara Carter\, Sherell Chillik\, X. SUMMARY:Apex Concerts: “Extraordinary Imaginations” with the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Cen-ter
DESCRIPTION:Apex Concerts is proud to partner with the nation’s premier chamber music organization — the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center — for a fun and bold program exploring the transformational time of the early 20th century\, an era of tireless innovation and limitless imagination. Whether it is Samuel Coleridge-Taylor diving into both his Sierra Leonean heritage and his use of African-inspired themes or the Venezuelan composer Reynaldo Hahn adopting the drama of the latest Parisian fashion of the 1920s and the language of his adoptive France. Witness the Belgian composer and virtuosic violinist Eugene Ysaÿe reflecting on the playing style of the Romanian violin prodigy George Enescu. The evening culminates with the magnificent Piano Quintet by the Swiss-American Ernest Bloch\, whose compositions are often described as reflective of his Jewish heritage\, with highly dramatic scores influenced by philosophical\, poetic\, and religious themes.
