Yori Avenue Asphalt Art Mural – Pilot Project

Website City of Reno

The City of Reno is accepting qualifications from artists/artist teams for a ground mural project at the intersection of Yori Avenue and Roberts Street. The city has allocated funding for a series of artist-designed and fabricated murals in pedestrian right-of-way in the newly redesigned intersection. The murals will be painted in the protected bump-out area around the street corners. The murals should be designed to reflect the urban and natural environment and create color and vibrancy in the space. Artists will work with Libby Booth Elementary School to get input on the design for the murals.

This project is limited to artists living and working within 150 miles of Reno. The city seeks artists with prior public art experience, specifically exterior mural fabrication in public places. Selected artists/artist teams/design team will be expected to work with city staff and stakeholders to design the final artwork. The artist is expected to engage with students at Libby Booth Elementary School in some manner to get input on the design. No students will be allowed to paint the mural.
