At the County Fair Juried Exhibition

Website Clark County Public Art

We are pleased to announce a call for art for our newest exhibition, At the County Fair, at Rotunda Gallery inside the Clark County Government Center. This exhibition honors the legacy and culture of our county fair from its beginning in 1965 to the huge 80,000 visitor fair and rodeo it has become. We encourage artists to submit work that digs into crafts such as quilting, sewing, pottery, beading, and leatherworking. Artists should also look at the aesthetics of the fair for inspiration; Ferris wheels, rodeos, kettle corn, and barbershop quartets are all common county fair visuals. One of our partners in this event is 4-H Youth Development where they teach children about leadership, citizenship, and life skills so anything educational and informational will also help make an impact for this open call.

Important dates if invited to exhibit:
• Entry Deadline: Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 11:59pm
• Artwork Drop-Off: Friday, April 12, 2024, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
• Artwork Pick-up: Friday, May 24, 2025, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

This exhibition is juried by Jesus Solis-Leon, a Las Vegas based artist and community educator working with the University of Nevada, Reno Extension’s 4-H Youth Development Program. Jesus’ work specifically focuses on the aspects of identity which influence artistic expression and self-actualization. A former recipient of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Jesus aims to highlight the intersections of identity which keep many hiding in plain sight.
