SUMMARY:SHELTER by Killing Trends & Jesse Hudson
DESCRIPTION:RSVP REQUIRED\nI’m very excited to announce my latest project titled Shelter\, an immersive art experience/photo series located in @dtlv at my new studio @killingtrends.\nI have been working on Shelter for the past year\, living in constant construction and mayhem.\nShelter attempts to make the size and complexity of a hyperobject like nuclear destruction tangible and relatable. People can step inside a 1950s bunker and directly experience for themselves what the restrictions of a war-fraught future might be like.\nThe show features artifacts from World War II and civil defense relics. Some of which I have discovered in undisclosed locations across the Las Vegas Valley.\nIt’s always been fascinating to me how much Nuclear testing\, both atmospheric and underground\, occurred here in Nevada after World War II. Nevada was chosen to be the breeding ground of tests that were conducted specifically in order to determine the effects of nuclear fallout on the American public. Many people living close to the test site were encouraged to watch the nuclear tests from their porches. Most of my work has always been focused on a forgotten past or an unknown future. Shelter was made in hopes that I can provide more insight on these topics for a generation that might have otherwise never known it to exist.\nBeyond the immersive installation space\, I will be launching a pop-up analog camera store called @fremontphotoco\, which will not only have film and cameras to be purchased but also will have development services at hand as well as fine art tabletop books. My overall goal with the space is to give underrepresented artists who have a hard time getting seen in the local community a space to create and show art. In the next five years\, the space is projected to support future Las Vegas artists with their own multimedia productions\, with goals to one day turn the whole space into a non-profit artist program where upcoming artists from across the world can apply to be sponsored for a full month.\nShelter opens at 5pm on January 21st\, 2023 at 901 Fremont Street #110 Las Vegas\, Nevada 89101\nDonations are encouraged as the project has been completely self-funded.\n\nRSVP at Killingtrends.com
