SUMMARY:Planting Myself Here: Closing Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:About the Artist:\nJurissa is first-generation Nicaraguan-American\, originally from Miami\, Florida\, who has planted her roots in Las Vegas\, Nevada. Working primarily with oil and acrylic paint\, her work centers around themes of self-realization\, spirituality\, symbolism and family. Her creative practice is deeply rooted in personal healing and transmutation. Her art is influenced by her journey as a mother\, wife and woman\, in which she learned true generational change begins within. Jurissa intends for her art to be a mirror and invitation\, encouraging others to embrace their own journeys\, seek truth no matter how difficult\, and to hold onto hope even in moments of darkness. To her\, art is a call to integrity\, love and connection. \nExhibition Statement:\nPlanting Myself Here marks the emergence of Jurissa’s voice as an artist\, storyteller and vessel for transformation. This debut solo exhibition unfolds as a visual narrative where personal healing becomes a generational offering. A sacred beginning rooted in resilience\, reclamation\, and rebirth. Through bold symbolism\, sacred color and spiritual metaphor\, Jurissa explores the first movements of alchemy: turning pain into beauty\, survival into sanctity. Each work reflects a distinct chapter in her evolution: calling on ancestors\, tending to self\, honoring love\, envisioning joy for her lineage. The result is a body of work that holds complexity with tenderness and declares\, without apology\, that our very being is sacred. This is the beginning\, not just of an art career\, but of choosing to root\, to rise and to pass something beautiful on. \nReception Details: \nThursday\, Jan. 8 5:30-7:30 p.m.\nA closing reception celebration will be held with food and live entertainment. Free and open to the public.\n \nLocation:\nPearson Community Center\n1625 W. Carey Ave.\, North Las Vegas\, NV 89032 \nGallery Hours:\nOPEN Monday – Friday 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.\nSaturday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.\nClosed Sunday

SUMMARY:Something Old as Something New by David Lampel- Reception Event
DESCRIPTION:About the Artist:\nDavid Lampel is an African American journalist\, teacher\, musician\, writer\, artist\, singer\, actor\, and businessman who first came to Las Vegas 25 years ago and watched the community evolve. He has traveled the world and speaks three languages. This would be his third show in the two years since he has started offering his art for sale online and in person in Las Vegas. A repeat veteran as both a musician and artist in the ‘Authors and Artist Fairs’ at the Clark County Library in 2023 and 2024. \nAbout the Exhibit\nIn this exhibition\, the artist reflects on Las Vegas’s unique cultural landscape\, a city that paradoxically celebrates the destruction of its historical symbols and gathering places. The implosion and demolition of these structures evoke a complex blend of joy and nostalgia\, marking a distinct separation from the past. The artist’s journey resembles cultural anthropology and archaeology\, dedicating hours to excavating history and seeking echoes of the past that resonate in the present and future. Before engaging with various artistic mediums—such as brush\, charcoal\, clay\, or creating dioramas and collages—the artist aims to transcend mere sentimentality. The proposed pieces invite viewers to appreciate the beauty in the elements that have shaped Las Vegas’s identity\, highlighting the intricate tapestry of what contributes to the city’s essence today. \nReception Details: \nThe closing reception will take place Thursday\, March 20th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Light refreshments will be served. \nWorkshop Details: \nDavid Lampel will be leading a group collage workshop in the art room of Pearson on Tuesday March 11th\, 3:30pm-5:30pm. Free and materials provided. RSVPs can be made on Eventbrite. Participants must register with the front desk at the Pearson Community Center. \nFollow David on Instagram:\n@davidlampelart \nFollow Clark County Public Arts:\n@ccpublicarts \nPlease visit the exhibition webpage for more details. \nTo RSVP for the reception event\, visit our Eventbrite page.
