SUMMARY:Sew a Little Guy with Maddie Cantrell
DESCRIPTION:Come make stuffies with us! Local artist Maddie Cantrell will lead us through the process of creating our very own little guys from scratch including pattern making\, hand stitched embellishments\, and basic sewing machine techniques to sew them all together. Participants can bring their own sewing machines from home or Holland will provide a limited amount of sewing machines available to borrow during the workshop (contact alisha@hollandreno.org to reserve a sewing machine before registering). \nRegistration is required for this workshop\, and space is limited. All skill levels welcome! Participants younger than 14 should be accompanied by an adult.

SUMMARY:Analisa Raya-Flores: The Museum of Señor Babyhead
DESCRIPTION:Part of the Holland Project’s Serva Pool Flux Series\, “The Museum of Señor Babyhead” is an installation and immersive physical theater performance by writer\, performer\, and visual artist Analisa Raya-Flores. The gallery will be filled with pâpier-maché “artifacts”– reproductions of items found in the Sonoran Desert (water bottles\, broken rosaries\, the skulls of hawks and goats). In the live show\, Señor Babyhead reenacts his journey across the desert\, sharing his encounters with mirages\, spirits\, and saguaros. Who is Señor Babyhead\, you ask? Only Mexico’s most washed-up famous sitcom star\, desperate to stay relevant and avoid becoming an artifact\, himself. It’s an hour of crooning\, crawling\, and implicating the audience in a dangerous game.

SUMMARY:Hija/e/o/x(s) de Su— exhibition
DESCRIPTION:𝐻𝒾𝒿𝒶/𝑒/𝑜/𝓍(𝓈) 𝒹𝑒 𝒮𝓊–\, a group exhibition curated by Cesar Piedra (@ylasllaves) and Geovany Uranda (@vaqueronopalero) in collaboration with the Holland Project (@hpgalleries) and Nuwu Art Gallery + Community Center (@nuwuart). This exhibition connects artists and their work to the nostalgia behind the phrase “hija/o de tu madre.” Through that phrase\, the artists examine their practice and reflect on childhood and the cultural expectations of living in a latina/e/o/x household. 𝐻𝒾𝒿𝒶/𝑒/𝑜/𝓍(𝓈) 𝒹𝑒 𝒮𝓊– explores joy\, rebellion\, tragedy\, mischief\, and the feeling of “IYKYK” (if you know\, you know). And if you don’t\, come anyway. \nWe’re also excited that this exhibition bridges together artists from both Reno and Las Vegas\, and we will be able to exhibit this show in both cities thanks to the amazing collaborations we have created with the Holland Project and Nuwu Art Gallery + Community Center. A big part of the Scrambled Eggs mission is to continue the work of establishing artistic permanece in Nevada\, which means strengthening the connection between artists and art communities across the state.
