The idea of a spoken word focused event started around 2006 and our vision was to build a spoken word scene in Reno, NV. Our little city has a reputation for being a little behind the times but  we knew there was a need for a platform to allow poets to share their work in a welcoming environment. After a few trial runs of hosting shows with poets and musicians we were confident that the city was hungry (and ready) for a spoken word scene;  as the interest and participation grew, we then formed the Spoken Views Collective. With the help of many local businesses around Reno, we were able to throw events and open mic nights to share the spoken word experience. We are proud to be the premier spoken word hub and collective in The Biggest Little City.
