The Arts Learning Program supports lifelong learning in the arts by promoting and expanding quality arts education opportunities for all Nevada citizens through statewide initiatives, grants and professional development opportunities.

POETRY OUT LOUD
We are celebrating 16 years of Nevada Poetry Out Loud! The National Endowment for the Arts and The Poetry Foundation partner with the Nevada Arts Council to support Poetry Out Loud in communities throughout the state. High school students in public, private, charter, home, and virtual schools master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about their literary heritage through the memorization of classic and contemporary poetry. NEVADA ARTS COUNCIL TEACHING ARTIST ROSTER
The Nevada Arts Council Teaching Artist Roster is designed as an online resource for schools, organizations, and communities to broaden and diversify participation in the arts through the engagement of artists in educational and community cultural residencies and programs. Teaching artists and ensembles of all disciplines are encouraged to apply. Read more
TEACHING ARTIST STUDIOS
Teaching Artist Studios is an online resource to support arts learning in Nevada. These virtual workshops are designed to create, perform, respond, and connect to arts and creativity in Nevada. You will find videos by our Teaching Artists, accompanied by lesson plans and worksheets to deepen student engagement. Our videos can be used by both educators and learners of all ages. Read more
ARTS LICENSE PLATE
Drive home your support of the arts with a “Rich in Art” license plate. For each plate issued, $15 of the initial fee and $10 of the renewal fee supports statewide arts education programs of the Nevada Arts Council and VSA arts of Nevada. Read more
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES
ARTS LEARNING PROJECT GRANT
The Arts Learning Project Grant supports arts learning activities for grades Pre-K – 12 and lifelong learning. The Arts Learning Project Grant (ALP) is a grant designed to support arts learning activities, teaching artists residencies, and teacher/teaching artists training. These arts learning activities provide unique opportunities for students and people of all ages to work with practicing artists. Funds must be used for conducting lessons/workshops (in-person or online/virtual) and/or educational performances at schools or community facilities. Funds may be used to support the execution of one activity/project or a series of related activities.
ARTS LEARNING EXPRESS GRANT
Open to Individuals on the Nevada Arts Council Teaching Artist Roster, non-profit organizations, and public institutions. The Arts Learning Express Grant (ALX) from the Nevada Arts Council (NAC) is designed to support a short-term teaching artist residency (20 hours maximum). This grant is open to community organizations/public institutions and individual teaching artists who are on the NAC Teaching Artist Roster. To offer flexibility and expedite funding, ALX grants will be awarded on a first come, first-served basis for each cycle. Grant funds are limited, so early submission is encouraged.
PROGRAM FEATURE
STAFF & TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
The Arts Learning (AL) Program offers research, guidance, and referrals for the development of arts education projects and plans. AL staff can assist in identifying and applying for alternative sources for funding that support arts education and provide material support for arts education advocacy.
