Nevada Visual Art Educators Association (NVAEA) promotes art education through advocacy, leadership, and professional development, the advancement in technology skills, and provides an interactive support system amongst art teachers of Nevada.

Sierra Arts Foundation integrates the arts into the classroom through an alliance with Washoe County School District to provide various onsite arts education instruction to elementary, middle, and high schools in the areas of literary, movement, theater, and visual arts. They provide all teaching materials, art supplies, and teaching-artist salaries.

Arts for All Nevada offers a variety of quality fine art classes to the public and implements art programs in the schools. They make the arts more accessible in classroom settings through artist in residency programming, workshops in Title I schools, and art instruction in general education classrooms that are tailored to curriculum.

Nevada Museum of Art provides Nevada’s K-12 educators with free educator memberships, monthly Educator Evenings offering state-approved professional development hours, and online lesson plans incorporating STEAM and Interdisciplinary Art practices grounded in Nevada Academic Content Standards.

Opportunity Villages’ Very Important Arts (VIA) Program serves children with disabilities ages 3-22 in the arts by placing qualified Music and Movement Mentors within schools free of cost. The program is designed to provide opportunities for artistic expression in the areas of art, music, dance, and more.

Clark County Public Arts provides professional public arts education opportunities for both artists and educators, including Youth Arts Education Temporary Public Art Projects, which pairs artists with recreation facilities in Clark County to engage children with public art.

General information

National Art Education Association (NAEA) supports creative growth by providing the tools and resources for a high-quality visual arts, design, and media arts education throughout diverse populations and communities of practice. The NAEA offers online resources for educators across the county, including publications, online learning opportunities, research reviews to NAEA position statements, and job listings.

The Kennedy Education Center has free digital resources for teaching and learning in, through and about the arts, including lesson plans and digital resources to infuse the arts within existing curriculum.

Americans for the Arts supports educators through digital Toolkits including the Local Arts Rapid Response Kit, which provides a guide to facing funding cuts, and the YouthARTS Program Planning Toolkit, which demonstrates planning for new youth arts programs or how to expand existing programs.

ASCD is a global community dedicated to excellence in learning, teaching, and leading. Founded in 1943, ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development) is the global leader in developing and delivering innovative programs, products, and services that empower educators to support the success of each learner.

Grantmakers in the Arts (GIA) offers a forum for discourse, whether in print, face-to-face, or online, that probes topics relevant to arts grantmakers and encourages relationship building and best practices. GIA’s solid history has created both a base and an appetite for more programming, including active interchange within philanthropy around arts, culture, inclusiveness, and creativity.

The National Arts Statistics and Evidence-based Reporting Center (NASERC) is an online hub for monitoring the U.S. arts ecosystem through a series of national indicators, and for accessing data-driven guides and reports aimed at arts practitioners.

For decades, working primarily with the U.S. Census Bureau, the NEA has cultivated and promoted nationally representative data about arts participation.

Publications

Snapshots of Arts Education in Childhood and Adolescence: This report shows how children’s access to arts education differs as they grow older, how access differs across subgroups of children, and how arts participation in childhood and adolescence is positively related to social-emotional attributes and academic outcomes. 

Arts Education in U.S. Public Schools: Insights from the November 2024 School Pulse Panel Survey: This research brief presents data on arts education access and support and considers differences in school size, level, region, locale, poverty, and student demographics.
