2018 NAC ARTIST FELLOWSHIP RECIPIENT ANDREANA DONAHUE RECEIVES ARTS WRITERS GRANT

The Creative Capital | Andy Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant Program has announced the recipients of its 2018 grants. Ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 in four categories—articles, blogs, books and short-form writing—these grants support projects addressing both general and specialized art audiences, from scholarly studies to critical reviews, and self-published blogs.

Andreana Donahue and Tim Ortiz’s blog Disparate Minds is a comprehensive platform for criticism on the works currently produced by self-taught artists with disabilities and their convergence with an increasingly pluralistic contemporary art world.

Joel Wachs, President of The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, explains, “The Foundation’s commitment to arts writing is a natural extension of the grants the Foundation makes to artist-centered organizations and museums, which often include funds for the publication of exhibition catalogues, brochures, and other outlets for scholarly perspectives. Critical writing on contemporary art connects artists to audiences, increases dialogue around their work, and is vital to a dynamic and engaged visual art community in this country.”  [Creative Capital]
