The Arts Strengthen Nevada. We Strengthen the Arts.
We ensure every Nevadan—no matter where they live—has access to art and opportunities for creative expression.
Created as a state agency in 1967, the Nevada Arts Council is one of 56 jurisdictional arts agencies in the United States. Our job is to help art flourish across our state. We are the state’s largest public funder of the arts.
The Nevada Arts Council is a division of the Nevada Department of Tourism and Cultural Affairs. We operate offices in Las Vegas and Reno with 13 full-time program and administrative staff and a nine-member board appointed by the Governor.

Strategic Planning
The Nevada Arts Council uses a structured planning process to gather feedback on its programs and policies, understand the needs of Nevada’s communities, and explore the state of the arts across the state. Through community meetings, focus groups, and one-on-one conversations, Council staff and board members hold a statewide discussion about the arts.
We also share an online survey with the public. The information collected during this process helps shape the agency’s strategic plan, leads to new programs and services, and builds new partnerships. The strategic plan guides the Council’s work and is shared with both the National Endowment for the Arts and the State of Nevada.
Nevada Arts Council Funding
The Nevada Arts Council is the primary source of public arts funding for Nevada. Appropriations from the State of Nevada, a partnership agreement from the National Endowment for the Arts, and other private sources fund Nevada Arts Council programs.
