Intro to Mokuhanga w/ Carol Brown
An event every day that begins at 10:00 am, repeating until September 21, 2025

In this hands-on workshop, Northern Nevada artist Carol Brown will teach the process of mokuhanga (traditional Japanese woodblock printing), using traditional carving tools, brushes, and washi papers. A brief history will be reviewed before students carve wood blocks on the first day of the workshop. The second day will be devoted to printing the carved wood block, using traditional kento registration and printing with water colors, rice paste, and a baren.
This process is fully water-based and non-toxic. Open to all levels.
Carol Brown has a certificate in printmaking from the Alfred C. Glassell Junior School of Art at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, Texas. She has studied with Hiroki Morinoue, Richard Keith Steiner, Katchy Caraccio, Tom Killion, April Vollmer, Keiko Hara, and Tuula Moilanen.
