Basin to Range Exchange
Creating community and collaboration through art
May 7 – 9, 2025, Ely, Nevada
Program Overview
The Nevada Basin to Range Exchange (BRX) is a professional development and networking event that brings people together from rural and urban communities across Nevada. This in-person event is held every two years and gives participants a chance to learn from one another, build relationships, and better understand different customs and perspectives.
BRX supports teamwork and shared efforts to strengthen communities and grow local economies. It encourages people to take an active role in shaping Nevada’s culture and future. Since 2019, the Nevada Basin to Range Exchange has connected participants throughout Nevada.
Participants include local volunteers, professionals from both rural and urban areas, educators, and community leaders.
The Nevada Basin to Range Exchange focuses on:
Building Relationships
BRX helps build strong relationships between communities across Nevada. The program shares resources and hosts activities that connect people from rural and urban areas. BRX brings together individuals from different backgrounds to talk, work together, and learn from one another.
Through guided discussions, networking, and shared experiences, participants exchange ideas and resources. These connections help strengthen communities and support long-term social well-being across the state.
Eliminating Stereotypes
People in rural and urban areas can have misunderstandings about each other. BRX works to break down these stereotypes by encouraging personal connections and shared experiences.
Through activities like community service projects, joint events, and hands-on learning, participants gain a better understanding of each other’s lives and cultures. These experiences build empathy, respect, and appreciation. BRX encourages people to value diversity, recognize shared values, and work together to create a more inclusive Nevada.
Promoting and Learning Different Cultural Traditions
BRX highlights the rich cultural diversity found throughout Nevada’s cities and rural communities. The program introduces participants to local businesses, cultural traditions, and creative projects that make each community unique.
From busy city centers to quiet rural towns, BRX helps people discover new ideas and traditions. Participants are encouraged to explore beyond their usual surroundings, which builds creativity and a deeper respect for Nevada’s cultural heritage. This shared learning supports a stronger and more inclusive future for the state.
Creating Partnership Opportunities
BRX connects community members from different regions of Nevada to create new partnerships. These connections can lead to new funding opportunities and creative projects that reflect the goals and values of each community.
By working together, participants help grow Nevada’s cultural programs, support artistic creativity, and strengthen community bonds. These partnerships also support economic growth and social connection across the state.
Strengthening Local Economies
BRX supports local economies by encouraging visitors to explore small businesses, restaurants, museums, and creative spaces—especially in rural areas. Participants are invited to shop at local stores, enjoy regional food, and learn about Nevada’s history. These experiences support local businesses and help visitors appreciate the unique character of rural Nevada.
By bringing people together, BRX strengthens both community connections and local economies, helping create a strong and sustainable future for all Nevadans.
