Dr. Felicia L. (formerly known by her stage name, Mz. So Educated) - a storyteller, story seeker, poet, performer, researcher, and literary visionary- work transcends the written word to touch the core of human experience. As a creative strategist and dreamer, Felicia draws upon the richness of her own life and the collective human journey, rooting her art in themes of healing, joy, and potential of the human spirit. She uses dreaming, futurism, and imagination as a tool through writing, spoken word, and event curation and facilitation.
Her poetic brilliance was beautifully showcased in her book, "Fears of a Mother, Tales of a Daughter: A Book of Poetry and Prose" (2022). This collection weaves together poetry and prose to explore themes of motherhood, daughterhood, identity, and the delicate interplay between fear and courage. Through this work, Felicia reveals her commitment to exploring the complexities of humanity while offering pathways to healing and empowerment.
Extending beyond the page, as a spoken word artist, she captivates audiences with her powerful presence and lyrical mastery, performing at culminating events, open mic nights, and transformative sessions where she encourages others to embrace healing and vision. She uses her platform to uplift, challenge, and nurture communities through creative expression. At the heart of her poetic voice is her ability to envision and articulate future possibilities, as well as her capacity to gather knowledge and transform it into wisdom. She Felicia L. is a literary force whose work continues to inspire hope, creativity, and personal exploration.
Felicia holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature, a Master of Science in Deaf Education, and a Ph.D. in Education. She frequently writes as a contributing writer for The Educator’s Room. Her passion for education and storytelling empowered her to write award-winning grants from Nevada Partnership for Inclusive Education to increase literacy and language acquisition, as well as collaborations with organizations to provide youth exposure to deaf culture, theater, and performance skills.
