Mark Maynard is the author of the story collection Grind (Torrey House Press) and his work has appeared in This Side of the Divide: Contemporary Stories of the American West (Baobab Press), Nevada Magazine, The Meadow, The Nottingham Review, Lunch Ticket, and the Ploughshares Magazine Literary Boroughs blog. He wrote and directed the documentary film "Piconland: The Quest for the Perfect Picon Punch" that won Best Nevada Film at the 2023 Dam Short Film Festival, and was featured on PBS Reno. He was the 2022 Artist-in-Residence at Great Basin National Park, and in Nevada's Black Rock desert that same summer. He is a 2023 Nevada Arts Council Literary Arts Fellow and has an Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing from Antioch University in Los Angeles, and a master's degree in journalism for the University of Nevada, Reno. He lives in Reno, Nevada, where he teaches at Truckee Meadows Community College.
