The son of immigrant parents, Vezun grew up with a culture clash present in his thoughts. A self-taught Las Vegas-based visual artist, Vezun's career path has been outside of the mainstream. He has self-published, exhibited in shows, been published, shown in film festivals, received grants, conducted workshops, and done public art. With his work, he experiments with formats, styles, techniques, and organizing color palettes. But his work is about him going inward.

I was awarded a grant to create this piece. Its purpose was to allow me the freedom to make a piece of an installation and be able to focus on keeping track of the time that it took to complete this piece. This would help to write my proposals for the installation and residency programs that I apply for with more confidence. I also was conscious of the different methods that I used and decided which methods could be used in a situation with a lot to produce and a deadline and which methods would be too time- consuming and therefore not practical.

Butterchunk

I wrote a grant to fund the creation of this piece. The purpose of the piece was to add another strong piece to my set of samples for applying to public art projects. In addition I organized a open studio day where the public could come and watch me work on the piece along with other papier-mâché artists.
