Joylynn M. Ross is an award-winning teaching artist, publisher, and national best-selling author whose books have been translated into multiple languages and honored by the American Library Association. As a 30-year literary industry professional and subject matter expert for business owners, Ross teaches writing, storytelling, and publishing workshops to individuals with stories to tell, testimonies to share, and messages to deliver. She also teaches business owners and entrepreneurs the business of storytelling so that they can create content and stories that connect to the heart of their target audience and ideal customers, bringing awareness to their brand and customers to their business.

As the CEO of Path To Publishing, co-founder of Path To Connections, and president of PTP Press, Ross marries the literary industry with the business world, coining the phrase and brand, “Act Like an Author, Think Like a Business.” Ross has served on every corner of the publishing world and literary industry map. From self-published and traditionally published author to literary agent securing book deals with major and indie publishers, to working with and for major and indie publishers as an acquisitions editor, content developer, ghostwriter, and freelance editor. Ross has been coined the “Underground Literary Guru,” teaching authors, publishers, and literary industry professionals and executives alike how to professionally build a book, how to build and run a literary/publishing company, as well as how to earn revenue, acquire funding and other resources and opportunities needed to scale and grow. Ross doesn’t sell dreams; she simply helps others achieve theirs by helping them reach their measure of writing, publishing, literary, and financial success.

She is also on the Lifetime Arts Inc. Teaching Artist Roster and enjoys facilitating "Creative Aging Writing & Storytelling" workshops for the 55+ community–helping older adults unearth and/or create stories that allow them to be seen and heard in the workshop space, in their community, and in the world.

School & community workshops

Write the Story You Haven’t Told: Ross helps students unearth stories they forgot even existed and then helps them either write or tell the story, or both.

Memoir Writing Workshop: Ross helps students pinpoint an event/moment in their life that has been most impactful and relays it through written words and/or orally.

Kreative Kids Write: Children of all ages have fallen in love with the literary arts as a result of the “Kreative Kids Read, Write & Draw” workshop, instructed by best-selling author N. Joy. The reading-only workshop starts with an animated and engaging reading of one of N. Joy’s children’s books, followed by a Q&A. In the Read, Write & Draw workshops, following the reading and Q & A, each participant writes and/or draws their own piece of literary art.

What Happened in Vegas: Themed to promote the history of Las Vegas, Ross helps students cultivate their experiences in Las Vegas into stories that marry their history with that of our wonderful city! This can be customized to the desired city.

The Basics of Publishing: Ross teaches students the five main aspects of publishing so they can take any piece of writing and publish it.

Beyond the Basics of Publishing: Ross covers the five main aspects of publishing plus the sixth aspect, selling, for those who want to publish and profit from their writing.

Build Your Book Business: Ross teaches literary artists to create the foundation of their author/writing/literary career, as well as build a book business or publishing company/imprint.

Make a Living as a Writer: Ross teaches students how to create multiple streams of cohesive literary income to make a living as a writer if that is one of their literary goals. These teachings show them how to maximize and monetize their role as an author.

From Parent to Publisher: It’s time to do more than brag about how well your child can write. It’s time to do more than store your child’s writings in an attic, only to pull it out years from now to show your grandchildren. Let’s show the world. Learn the steps you need to take to turn your child into an author.

Outline & Story Building Workshop: Whether the student’s thoughts, ideas, or concepts are on paper or still in their head, Ross helps them make sense and put order to it all. They walk away with the foundation, aka the blueprint, to build their story/book!

*Having taught workshops and created curriculum for 30 years plus, Ross is able to create and customize workshops for any age, audience size, and any budget, as money should never be the reason for anyone not to tell their story. Ross has a team of assistants that she uses when needed, based on audience age and size.
