Elaine Parks: Fossils and Bones

Fossils and Bones is a series of ceramic sculptures intended as a reflection on the desert walk where one encounters remains—bones of long dead animals and relics of the past. Desert finds are special and rare and highlight the desire to establish origin and story. The artworks are invented forms created to resemble familiar found bones that defy actual recognition. The exhibition offers a contrasting view of the idea that the desert is an empty, desolate place, that instead it is a rich and varied environment if we take the time to look.

Fossils and Bones, runs from Novemeber 4 through January 14, 2024.
