Join us for the artist reception of Old Stories Made New with Lee Lanier on January 30 from 6-9 p.m.

Lee Lanier is a contemporary painter from Boulder City, Nevada. His colorful paintings breathe new life into historical, literary and mythological characters. Stylistically, he combines Renaissance tableaux with 20th-century commercial illustrations and a bit of durrealism. His inspiration comes from old stories that have survived the long march of time. In his own words, he is “drawn to universal human themes such as life and death, temptation and faith, and creativity and industry. His end goal is to “create works of art that can be viewed multiple times while inspiring spirited conversations among groups of dissimilar viewers.”

This exhibition also includes an augmented reality component, allowing viewers to experience the paintings through a lens that features new elements, such as the creation process, details of the original stories, and further insights into the paintings’ varied iconography.

This is a free event with snacks, drinks, words from the artist and a talking magical fish! All are welcome.
