What America 250 Means to Henderson
Join the City of Henderson on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 9-10 a.m. at Pecos Legacy Park for the celebration of our newest series of murals! “Gradients of Green Valley” was inspired by feedback from our community on what America 250 means to them. Come meet the artist, Miguel Hernandez and hear from the Nevada Arts Council and National Endowment for the Arts about the significance and impact of this artwork on our community. Event is free, and open to all.
About the Artwork from the Artist, Miguel Hernandez
I wanted to paint a reflection of the surrounding community through gradients of color and the ideas gathered from meeting with them as well. Understanding that this is a celebratory project commemorating 250 years of America, it was important to me to listen and learn about the park, its patrons and events before beginning the process in beautifying Pecos Legacy Park. I’m forever grateful for the opportunity to meet locals, know them by name and to have their trust in my vision. I hope the community feels heard and seen in their efforts in having this park be uniquely theirs.
