Planting Myself Here: Closing Exhibition

January 8 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Free

About the Artist:
Jurissa is first-generation Nicaraguan-American, originally from Miami, Florida, who has planted her roots in Las Vegas, Nevada. Working primarily with oil and acrylic paint, her work centers around themes of self-realization, spirituality, symbolism and family. Her creative practice is deeply rooted in personal healing and transmutation. Her art is influenced by her journey as a mother, wife and woman, in which she learned true generational change begins within. Jurissa intends for her art to be a mirror and invitation, encouraging others to embrace their own journeys, seek truth no matter how difficult, and to hold onto hope even in moments of darkness. To her, art is a call to integrity, love and connection.

Exhibition Statement:
Planting Myself Here marks the emergence of Jurissa’s voice as an artist, storyteller and vessel for transformation. This debut solo exhibition unfolds as a visual narrative where personal healing becomes a generational offering. A sacred beginning rooted in resilience, reclamation, and rebirth. Through bold symbolism, sacred color and spiritual metaphor, Jurissa explores the first movements of alchemy: turning pain into beauty, survival into sanctity. Each work reflects a distinct chapter in her evolution: calling on ancestors, tending to self, honoring love, envisioning joy for her lineage. The result is a body of work that holds complexity with tenderness and declares, without apology, that our very being is sacred. This is the beginning, not just of an art career, but of choosing to root, to rise and to pass something beautiful on.
