Micro*Fest: Air and More!

Earth Day is observed annually worldwide and will be celebrated locally in Sandy Valley, Nevada, Saturday April 13, 2024, 2:00-4:00 pm, at Sandy Valley Senior Center, 690 Quartz Avenue.

This is a free, appropriate all-ages community micro*fest. Be sure to “Bring Your Own Lunch”.

“Sandy Valley NV Earth Day: Decade of Micro*Fests” was founded in memory of long-time Sandy Valley developers Richard and Drue Bale, by Sandy Valley resident, Marianne Donnelly. This third year’s theme is, Air and More! Earth Day was established in 1970 by Senator Gaylord Nelson and Denis Hayes to bolster public consciousness about air and water pollution.

This year’s featured presentation will be by Kevin MacDonald from Clark County Department of Environment & Sustainability which is our “air pollution control agency, a regional Endangered Species Act compliance program, and countywide sustainability office. Through these programs, DES is ensuring the air we share meets healthful, regulatory standards, administering the County’s Multiple Species Habitat Conservation Plan and addressing climate change through the All-In Clark County initiative.”

Earth Day will also feature life-long Country and Western musician  and winning Yodeler, Bobby Kingston!  This two-time Western Music Association (WMA) Male Yodeler of the Year has performed thousands of shows including Elko Cowboy Poetry Gathering, WMA Annual Gathering in Albuquerque, New Mexico and several famous venues on lower Broadway in Nashville Tennessee. Bobby released 4 CDs and received multiple accolades for his live music and recorded works.

There will also be a water-warrior archive viewing with Warrior Beth Bacher, (a 3-minute walk to memorial pavers) of past residents and an electric vehicle demo.
