HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

The Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Nevada Heritage Fellowship from the Nevada Arts Council recognizes tradition bearers living in Nevada whose body of work has contributed to Nevada’s traditional arts heritage. The Nevada Heritage Fellowship is awarded as an honorarium and does not need to be used for any specific expenses or projects (applications for specific projects should be submitted to the Folklife Artist Grant and/or the Project Grant for Artists).

By acknowledging outstanding cultural and artistic accomplishments across a body of work the program promotes public awareness and appreciation of the role of traditional arts in our society.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must be a current Nevada resident and have been in residence for at least one year prior to the date of the application
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal permanent resident status
    • Must be at least 21 years old
    • Must not be enrolled as degree-seeking student
    • Individual artists applying for a Nevada Heritage Fellowship must be actively practicing in the discipline
    • Artists working in collaborations or in groups must apply as individuals
    • Artists who have previously received two or more Fellowships from the Nevada Arts Council are ineligible

NOMINATION PROCESS:

Nominations for the Nevada Heritage Fellowship can be submitted via email to Folklife Specialist Brad McMullen at bmcmullen@nevadaculture.org. Self-nominations are accepted. To nominate a candidate, provide the following information in your email:

  • Nominee name and contact information
  • Nominator name, contact information, and title
  • Confirmation that Nominator has met with Nominee, that both parties have reviewed the guidelines, and that the Nominee agrees to the nomination
  • A short paragraph of support about the Nominee

Once the nomination has been received and reviewed, a link will be sent to the nominee to provide support materials. Please note the Nominee Application Deadline in the box above.

AWARD AMOUNT: $5,000 (no match required)

Awarded funds will be disbursed upon receipt of the signed grantee documents. All grantees must complete a Final Report online within 45 days of the end of their grant cycle to stay in compliance and remain eligible for future Nevada Arts Council grants. In May of 2025, a story of impact will be requested by the Nevada Arts Council.

REVIEW PROCESS/CRITERIA

Nevada Heritage Fellowship applicants are evaluated using a concealed review process where each applicant is identified by a number for the purpose of panel discussion. A review panel will adjudicate and score eligible applications using the following criteria:

  • Clear demonstration of the artist’s excellence within their tradition (10 pts)
  • Clear demonstration of the artists’ significance within their tradition (10 pts)
  • Evidence of artistic impact or contribution to living cultural heritage (10 pts)

Application scores will be presented to the Nevada Arts Council Board for review and award consideration. For more information, please see the Grant Review Process in the current GRANT POLICIES.

¿CÓMO FUNCIONA EL PROGRAMA?

La Beca para el Patrimonio Artístico del Año Fiscal 2025 (FY25) de Nevada del Consejo de las Artes de Nevada reconoce a los portadores de la tradición que viven en Nevada, cuyo cuerpo de trabajo ha contribuido al patrimonio artístico tradicional de Nevada. La Beca para el Patrimonio Artístico de Nevada se otorga como un honorario y no está condicionada a ser utilizada en gastos o proyectos específicos (las solicitudes para proyectos específicos deberán presentarse para la Beca para Artistas Folclóricos o para la Beca para Proyectos de Artistas).

Al reconocer los logros culturales y artísticos destacados a través de una colección de obras, el programa fomenta la conciencia pública y el aprecio por el papel del artista en nuestra sociedad.

ELEGIBILIDAD

  • Deberá ser residente actual de Nevada y haber residido durante al menos un año antes de la fecha de solicitud
    • Deberá ser ciudadano estadounidense o tener el estatus de residente permanente legal
    • Deberá tener al menos 21 años
    • No deberá estar escrito como estudiante que aspira a un título
    • Los artistas individuales que soliciten una Beca para el Patrimonio Cultural de Nevada deberán dedicarse activamente a la disciplina. 
    • Los artistas que trabajen en colaboración o en grupo deberán presentar su solicitud a título individual.
    • Los artistas que hayan recibido anteriormente dos o más becas del Consejo de las Artes de Nevada no son elegibles.

PROCESO DE NOMINACIÓN:

Las nominaciones para la Beca para el Patrimonio Cultural de Nevada pueden enviarse por correo electrónico al especialista en Folclore, Brad McMullen, al correo electrónico bmcmullen@nevadaculture.org. Se aceptan autonominaciones. Para nominar a un candidato, proporcione la siguiente información en su correo electrónico: 

  • Nombre del aspirante e información de contacto
  • Nombre del nominador, información de contacto y título 
  • Confirmación de que el Nominador se ha reunido con el Aspirante, que ambas partes han revisado las pautas y que el Aspirante acepta la nominación
  • Un breve párrafo de apoyo sobre el Aspirante

Una vez que se haya recibido y revisado la nominación, se enviará un enlace al aspirante, para proporcionar materiales de apoyo. Tenga en cuenta la fecha límite de Solicitud para Aspirantes, en el recuadro de arriba. 

CANTIDAD DEL PREMIO: $5,000 (no se requiere equivalencia)

Los fondos otorgados se desembolsarán tras la recepción de los documentos firmados por el becario. Todos los becarios deberán presentar un Informe final en línea, dentro de los 45 días posteriores a la finalización de su ciclo de becas, para mantener su elegibilidad y poder optar por futuras becas del Consejo de las Artes de Nevada. En mayo de 2025, el Consejo de las Artes de Nevada solicitará una historia de impacto.

PROCESO DE REVISIÓN Y CRITERIOS

Los solicitantes de la Beca para el Patrimonio Cultural de Nevada son evaluados mediante un proceso de revisión anónimo, en el que cada solicitante será identificado por un número a efectos del debate del panel. Un panel de revisión adjudicará y calificará las solicitudes elegibles utilizando los siguientes criterios: 

  • Demostración clara de la excelencia del artista dentro de su tradición (10 puntos)
  • Demostración clara del significado de los artistas dentro de su tradición (10 puntos)
  • Evidencia de impacto artístico o contribución al patrimonio cultural popular (10 puntos)
