HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

The Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) Folklife Artist Grant (FLA) supports traditional arts projects by folk artists and culture bearers. Eligible projects focus on the transmission of folk arts or traditions that are practiced, valued, and shared within culturally specific communities in Nevada. Eligible projects can be learning-focused, such as apprenticeships, mentorships, group learning activities, and cultural reclamation; or presentation-focused, such as exhibitions, performances, readings, concerts, and festivals focused on folk and traditional arts practices.

Projects must be complete by June 30, 2027. To stay in compliance and be eligible for future Nevada Arts Council grants, grantees must submit the Final Report by the deadline stated in the award packet. 

ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility requirements must be met at the time of application. To ensure that their project is eligible in the category (folk and traditional arts), the applicant and/or project must meet the following requirements:

  • Must talk with Folklife Program staff before applying
  • Must be a member of the community whose arts are being presented and demonstrate a deep knowledge of the artistic practices and associated cultural traditions that will be taught
  • Must be a current Nevada resident and have been in residence for at least one year prior to the date of the grant application 
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal permanent resident status
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must not be enrolled as a degree-seeking student in a field related to the type of grant for which they are applying

An individual may receive a Project Grant for Artists and up to two Arts Learning Express Grant, one in each cycle, if eligible. Applicants may receive funding for one Folklife Artist Grant per fiscal year. 

GRANT AMOUNT: Up to $3,000 (no match required)*

Grant funds may be used for artist fees (applicant, collaborating, and production), facility costs, permanent equipment (not to exceed $500), consumable materials/supplies, production costs/materials, marketing/promotion, and/or travel (accommodation and transportation).

Grant funds may be disbursed as an advance payment upon receipt of the signed terms and conditions or as reimbursement. Documentation of the use of grant funds must be provided in the Final Report and must match the proposed expenses.

REVIEW PROCESS/CRITERIA

Nevada Arts Council staff will review applications for completeness and adherence to program requirements. Applicants must meet eligibility requirements, demonstrate the artistic excellence of participating folk artists, and establish the artistic merit of the project as it relates to the cultural community represented. 

Applications that meet all requirements will be awarded in the order in which they are received while funds remain available. A record of the review process is maintained for all applications. Grants are contingent on available funding as approved by the Nevada Arts Council Board.

Grant terms and conditions are subject to changing state and federal regulations during the grant period of performance. The Nevada Arts Council will post and inform awardees of any changes if/as soon as they are available.

¿CÓMO FUNCIONA EL PROGRAMA?

La subvención para artistas folclóricos (FLA) para el año fiscal 2027 (FY27) apoya proyectos artísticos tradicionales de artistas folclóricos y portadores de cultura. Los proyectos elegibles se enfocan en transmitir las artes o tradiciones populares que se practican, valoran y comparten dentro de comunidades culturalmente específicas de Nevada. Los proyectos elegibles pueden enfocarse en el aprendizaje, como los aprendizajes, tutorías, actividades de aprendizaje colectivas y recuperación cultural; o basados en la representación, como exposiciones, rendimientos, lecturas, conciertos y festivales enfocados en el folclore y prácticas artísticas tradicionales.

Los proyectos deberán completarse antes del 30 de junio de 2027. Para cumplir con los requisitos y ser elegibles para futuras subvenciones del Consejo de Artes de Nevada, los beneficiarios deben presentar el Informe final antes de la fecha límite indicada en el paquete de adjudicación.

ELEGIBILIDAD

Los requisitos de elegibilidad deben cumplirse al momento de solicitud. Para asegurar que su proyecto sea elegible en la categoría (folclore y artes tradicionales), el solicitante y/o proyecto tiene que cumplir con los requisitos que siguen: 

  • Los solicitantes deberán comunicarse con el personal del Programa Para Artistas Folclóricos antes de solicitar 
  • Debe ser miembro de la comunidad cuyos artes están presentados y demostrar su conocimiento profundo de las prácticas artísticas y tradiciones culturales relacionadas que serán enseñados 
  • Debe ser residente actual de Nevada y haber residido durante al menos un año antes de la fecha de solicitud de la subvención 
  • Debe ser ciudadano estadounidense o tener el estatus de residente permanente legal
  • Debe tener 21 años o más
  • No deberá estar escrito como estudiante que aspira a un título relacionado al tipo de subvención que solicita

Una persona puede recibir una Beca de Proyecto para Artistas y hasta dos Becas Exprés para el Aprendizaje Artístico, una en cada ciclo, si cumple los requisitos. Los solicitantes pueden recibir financiación para una Beca para Artistas de Folklore por año fiscal.

MONTO DE LA SUBVENCIÓN: Hasta $3,000 (no se requiere fondos paralelos)

Los fondos de la subvención pueden usarse para honorarios de artistas (solicitante, colaboradores y producción), costos de instalación, equipo permanente (no más de $500), materiales/suministros consumibles, costos/materiales de producción y/o viaje (solo alojamiento y transporte).

Los fondos de la subvención se desembolsarán como adelantado al recibir los términos y condiciones firmados o como reembolso. La documentación sobre el uso de los fondos de la subvención deberá incluirse en el informe final y deberá alinearse con los gastos propuestos.

PROCESO DE REVISIÓN Y CRITERIOS

El personal del Nevada Arts Council revisará las solicitudes para confirmar que están completas y que cumplen los requisitos del programa. Los solicitantes deben cumplir con los requisitos de elegibilidad, demostrar la excelencia artística de los artistas folclóricos involucrados y establecer el mérito artístico del proyecto en relación con la comunidad cultural que representan. 

Las solicitudes que cumplan con todos los requisitos se otorgarán por orden de llegada, siempre que haya fondos disponibles. Se mantiene un registro del proceso de revisión para todas las solicitudes. Las subvenciones están supeditadas a la financiación disponible según lo aprobado por la Junta del Nevada Arts Council.

Los términos y condiciones de la subvención están sujetos a cambios en las regulaciones estatales y federales durante el período de la subvención. El Consejo de las Artes de Nevada publicará e informará a los beneficiarios sobre cualquier cambio tan pronto como esté disponible.

Revisar recursos adicionales para solicitantes (Los especialistas de folclore y subvenciones están disponibles para apoyar a los solicitantes durante el proceso y para ayudarles identificar recursos y soluciones para desafíos, incluso los problemas técnicos que enfrentan a los solicitantes cuando preparan su solicitud con el sistema de gestión de las subvenciones en línea.)
