The Best Communities for Music Education (BCME) Award program celebrates school districts and schools that show a strong and ongoing commitment to music education and equitable access for all students.

Winning this award not only highlights your dedication to music education but also strengthens community pride and advocacy for music programs.

New in 2026
BCME Opportunity Award
As part of the application process, eligible districts and schools may also be considered for a BCME Opportunity Award.

  • Providing up to five $5,000 grants to BCME-winning districts or schools serving low-income communities
  • Funds are used to strengthen and sustain music education programs where resources are needed most.
  • Title 1 schools, districts with Title 1 schools and non-public schools with financial need are eligible to apply.

Eligibility
To apply, you must:

  • Be part of an academic school district or school (public, charter, parochial or private) located within the 50 United States offering a music education program. After-school programs are not eligible for participation.
  • Submit only one application per district or school.
  • Complete the entire application; incomplete submissions will not be considered.
  • Designate one representative to coordinate and submit the application.
  • Submit your completed application by Jan. 31, 2026.
