CALL FOR ARTWORK: Life in Death Exhibition

Website Clark County, Nevada

Clark County Parks and Recreation Public Office presents the 25th annual Life in Death – Dia de los Muertos art exhibit, celebrating the Mexican holiday at Winchester-Dondero Cultural Center. As always, we invite artists to research and explore how Dia de los Muertos is celebrated by the many cultures found throughout Mexico and by the diaspora abroad. This multigenerational celebration is a remembrance of the dead and is filled with festivities honoring life, both lived and living. Please remember that Dia de los Muertos is NOT Halloween, art submissions should be respectful to the tradition and not feature generic skeletons or “scary” themes. Although we want to focus on tradition, we do encourage artists to make subversive and innovative work building on the celebratory practices of Dia de los Muertos. This holiday is all about celebrating life and death. Submit work that’s humorous, respectful, and beyond all, celebrates Life in Death!
