This is an exhibition about fantastic art — art that portrays mystical, magical, or mythical beings, events, and/or settings. You can find examples of fantastic art on the covers of Dungeons & Dragons game guides, within RPG video games, and even through the work of Hieronymus Bosch. Fantastic art is popularly comprised of Western cultural imaginations of fantasy, but we are looking for anything that explores the themes of magic and other worlds. We ask artists to create work that explores new lands, revisits mythologies, and is filled with esoteric magic.
