LAS VEGAS ARTIST, MYRANDA BAIR FEATURED AT LXS GALLERY

gilla_2The Las Vegas artist, Myranda Bair whose work is now featured at the LXS Gallery inside the Nevada Legislature, is an avid rock climber, animal lover, self-proclaimed “mediocre” farmer and a natural space advocate.

“Given the themes of my work, it follows that conservation is a great passion of mine,” she said. “It is important for me to use nontoxic, often natural, materials as well as reused and recycled glass and antiques in my work.”

Bair is the fifth of six Nevada artists whose work has been featured as part of the Nevada Arts Council’s Legislative eXhibition Series (LXS) at the Nevada State Legislative Building in Carson City during the biennial session of the legislature. Her work went on display on Monday and will be in place through May 19.

Bair lives and works in Las Vegas, where she is a faculty member for the College of Southern Nevada. She received her MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her BFA from the University of Texas at Austin.  She has exhibited work across the country and participated in various residences, recently at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area.

Managed by the Artist Services Program of the Nevada Arts Council, the LXS Gallery space is located on the first floor in the Legislative Building, 401 S. Carson St., Carson City. The gallery is across the hall from the Caucus Deli. It is open to the public, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Read More
