Workshops set to help earn grants from Nevada Arts Council

Nov. 25, 2015

Workshops Schedule

The Nevada Arts Council is hosting a series of 11 free grant workshops in December to help artists, nonprofit organizations, educators and public institutions apply for the many grants and programming support available through NAC’s state programs. “Meet the NAC” workshops are designed for novice grant writers and those unfamiliar with the council or NAC’s Grants OnlineTM system.

NAC offers a dozen grant categories to support programs throughout the state for artists, small groups and large organizations. New for 2016, NAC is presenting workshops and meeting individually with current grantees and applicants in communities across the state.

“We continue to see an increase in requests for NAC grant funding. We strongly recommend that both new grant-seekers and existing grantees join us for these training opportunities that have been designed with both types of users in mind,” said Ann Black, grants program coordinator for the Arts Council.

The first workshop is from 6-7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30 at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, followed by 6-7 p.m. Dec. 1 in Minden at Copeland Cultural Arts Center and Dec. 3 in Reno at Arts for All with two sessions at 4 and 6 p.m. Fallon’s workshop is from 10 to 11 a.m. Dec. 5 at the Oats Park Arts Center; Elko is 6-7 p.m. Dec. 10 at Great Basin College DCIT Rm 208; and Winnemucca, 6-7 p.m. Dec. 11 at the Humboldt Museum Church Building.

In Southern Nevada, workshops are in North Las Vegas from 6-7 p.m. Dec. 14 at the Silver Mesa Recreation Center computer lab; in Henderson from 6-7 Dec. 15 at the Green Valley Library; and in Las Vegas, two sessions are at 4 and 6 p.m. Dec. 16 at the Historic 5th Street School.

Registration is not required. For accommodations at the workshop for people with disabilities, contact the NAC office at (775) 687-6680 or grants@nevadaculture.org.
