  • Multiple Disciplines

Gina BoBina lives to create, and creating art is her way of life. She was raised in an environment where art and creativity were all around. Her mom is an artist and shared her love for the creative process with BoBina, encouraging and teaching her to pursue art. She has been drawing since she can remember, and she knows almost every corner of the Philadelphia Art Museum. BoBina was born in New Jersey and moved to California after high school. At California State University, Long Beach, she studied graphic design and later switched to art education. Once she graduated, she started teaching in Las Vegas as a middle and high school art teacher.

When BoBina moved to Las Vegas in 2013, she got involved with the local Arts District and First Friday Organization. As an art teacher and a board member/artist with City of the World Gallery, LLC., she hosted more than 20 student art shows. She was also involved with the Life Cube project that came to town. One of her main focuses as an art teacher is for students’ voices to be heard through visual art, regardless of age, race, gender, identity, or ability. She urges students to connect to themselves, their feelings, quirks, ambitions, and especially social issues and their community. She believes knowledge is power, and creativity is gold.

For her own art practice, BoBina is currently the curator for and a showcasing artist at Taverna Costera. She also showcases and assists with the gallery at Slonina ARTspace. In 2019, she was on the winning team for the First Friday Art Battle. In March of 2024, she was awarded a seven-month studio/gallery residency through First Friday Organization and Park West Gallery. She is a teaching artist with the Nevada Arts Council, as well as a teaching artist with First Friday and the ArtUOk program. She has been in many art shows, group and solo, in Los Angeles and Las Vegas, and she loves to collaborate with other artists and organizations.

Post-Covid, BoBina left teaching to pursue her art full-time and joined the roster for the Nevada Arts Council, where she reaches many different groups of students and organizations. She enjoys mixed media projects, acrylic painting, sometimes watercolor (especially if used in non-traditional or expected ways), and many more forms of art making. She loves a great challenge and adapting to materials and projects.
