  • Music

Pianist, vocalist, songwriter, performer, recording artist, instructor, and bandleader Erika Paul brings her upbeat personality, diverse musical gifts to her programs. She draws on a lifetime of performing and teaching experience, and an inclusive community approach with schools, libraries, and eldercare residences. Her creative interpretations of the Great American Songbook and her interactive original music inspire and educate audiences to just dip their feet into the river of life and trust themselves to create and express their innermost artistic side. Workshops include vocal and instrumental improvisation, songwriting, and the history of jazz through performance techniques and professional development.

School & community workshops

Beginning Instrumental Improvisation – Discover your voice through your instrument by applying specific breathing and singing techniques and simple-to-use melodic scales and theory.

Let’s Write the Blues – Learn simple formulas used to write lyrics and chords that follow the 12-bar blues, including call-and-response sharing of your original blues through performance.

Professional Development MUSIC – Introduction and instruction regarding the application of music activities in the classroom. From simple songs to interactive classroom performances using the voice and available instruments, teachers and their students learn to include the benefits of music in their daily school activities.
