Nancy Good
- Visual Arts
"Primarily known for mural-sized, physically-interactive two-dimensional paintings, as well as digital works, Las Vegas artist Nancy Good’s studio practice is deeply-rooted in self-discipline, dedication, and unwavering passion to create strong contemporary art that compels dialogue and human connection. Influenced by synesthesia related to vibration and eclectic DNA revealing connections with cultures the world over, Good’s work weaves the materials and tools of modern times while also honoring the mark-making of her ancient ancestries.
A passionate teacher and mentor, Good has developed and taught workshops and programs for ArtUOK, First Friday Foundation, Clark County, Las Vegas, Reno-Tahoe International Art Show, and Roseman University-Genesis, as well as facilitating private art classes. These workshops include hands-on experience with a multitude of mediums and techniques from acrylic, latex, ink, oil pastel, collage, fiber, photography, airbrush, spray paint, stencil, printing, and sculpture. As a teaching artist, Good focuses on meeting students where they're at, rather than attempting to meet them where they think they should be. Using this collaborative approach allows both teacher and student to learn together, thereby nurturing a lasting interest in the arts.
A published and award-winning artist, Good’s work is regularly seen in exhibits across the country in high profile locations including Las Vegas City Hall, Clark County Rotunda, Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art (UNLV), Doyle Arts Pavilion in Costa Mesa, San Diego Museum of Art, Reno/Tahoe International Airport, Nevada Humanities, Meow Wolf Las Vegas, MGM properties, St. Mary’s Arts Center, HERE Arts and Superchief Gallery in New York City, Nashville International Airport, Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau, Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, and galleries in the Southeast, New York, Montana, Nevada, and California. Overseas, Good’s art has been exhibited in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Canada, and Turkey. Her work is also found in important collections throughout the world. Good has received four Congressional Commendations for her artistic contributions and has been inducted into the National Association of Women Artists, a professional arts organization founded in 1889.
School & community workshops
Exquisite Corpse Workshop: Demonstrating the surrealist technique intended to foster collaboration, surprise, humor, and to help artists tap into a part of their creativity they may not be aware of, as fantastical beings or scenes come to life in unexpected ways.
Collaborative Sign/Message Workshop: Working together to reveal a positive word or message, students work on their own “tile” (a sheet of paper or canvas) containing a part of the whole. Each student “decorates” their “tile” in whatever way they would like with the provided materials and at the end of the class, they are put together like a puzzle to reveal the word/message.
Abstract Art Workshop: Intended to help students to loosen up and think more abstractly rather than logically, this workshop gives participants an opportunity to learn more about abstract artistic concepts (pattern, color, line, shape, avoiding realism, etc.), experiment with new mediums and have fun!
