Apex Concerts presents its Grand Season Finale with “Spark of Genius,” a program with an all-star cast featuring violinists Stella Chen and Sean Lee, violists Matthew Lipman and Milena Pájaro-van de Stadt, as well as Apex co-Directors Dmitri Atapine and Hyeyeon Park. Works explored are all centered on the idea of what exactly is the spark of true inspiration and genius. Perhaps it is it the arrival of precocious maturity in the twenty-something year old Franz Schubert and his String Trio in B-flat Major. Or it may be the fervor and passion of the first love, as exemplified by Joseph Suk and his Piano Quartet Op. 1. Or pure brilliance of the mind of Felix Mendelssohn, one of classical music’s most celebrated prodigies, who also achieved some of the most refined and ingenious craftsmanship as evidenced in his majestic String Quintet in D Major Op. 87.
