Honoring the Women Who’ve Shaped Us: A Writing Workshop with Jillian Makoutz

March 8 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$65

Join local poet Jillian Makoutz from Grass and Sky Press for a poetry workshop that encourages you to honor a special woman in your life. We’re delighted to welcome Makoutz for this special celebration of International Women’s Day.

We’ll begin with a discussion about the process of honoring a woman in your life, different ways you can approach that concept, and some writing prompts to get your creativity flowing. Makoutz will also share a few of her own poems on the subject as she teaches.

Then, we’ll move into writing time as you create an original poem or written piece that honors a woman in your life that has shaped who you are. You may find it meaningful to bring a photo or some sort of memorabilia of the woman you are honoring to inspire you. This isn’t a requirement!

After writing, we’ll take time at the end of the class for those who would like to read their pieces aloud.

All materials are provided, including a journal and blackwing pencil for all your writing needs, so just plan to bring yourself, a memento (if you’d like!), and maybe some Kleenex. You’ll also receive a signed copy of Jillian Makoutz’s book, Four Seasons in the Sierra.

Young guests junior high age and above are welcome to attend!
