With the Land introduces 35 artists working together to convey a shared story with different viewpoints and perspectives on how we relate to land. Some artists chose to concentrate on the effects we currently have on our environment. With climate change is a looming pressure on many generations, these artists are expressing the sadness of what we are losing and may be lost. Other artists look toward nature to admire its existence and repair the relationship. All in all, the objective of this exhibition is to become more connected With the Land.
The juror for this exhibition is Kim Garrison Means, an artist and public lands advocate. Kim represented Searchlight during the Avi Kwa Ame National Monument Campaign and co-curated the Spirit of the Land exhibition at the Marjorie Barrick Museum of Art that led to a national monument designation in 2023. Means is currently the director of the Mystery Ranch Arts and Ecology Research Station, co-editor of the Searchlight Gold Beam, and one half of the conceptual art team United Catalysts.
