Exploring Boundaries,an exhibit by Linda Alterwitz

Carson City, Nev. The Nevada Arts Council presents “Exploring Boundaries,” an exhibit by Linda Alterwitz, in its Carson City office from December 6, 2010 through January 28, 2011 as part of the Office eXhibition Series (OXS). Using both scientific and natural landscapes, Las Vegas multi-media artist Linda Alterwitz, explores the human connection to our natural environment.

Alterwitz’s photographs are multi-layered, similar to collages, combining images of nature and landscapes with less obvious medical references. Alterwitz digitally manipulates and layers together images to create large-scale primarily color photographs by using both high-tech digital cameras and low-tech toy cameras, creating works that invite the viewer in for closer examination.

Alterwitz earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Denver. She has exhibited her work in Las Vegas, Nevada and Ohio. Her work has been included in several group exhibitions including NYU, New York, NY; The Pen and Brush Gallery, New York, NY; The Shy Rabbit Contemporary Arts, Pagosa Springs, CO; SilverEye for Photography, Pittsburg, PA; Photoplace Gallery, Middlebury, VT; Julia Dean Photo Workshop Gallery, Venice, CA; and Womanmade Gallery, Chicago, IL. Alterwitz received a FY2011 Artist Fellowship Honorable Mention Award from the Nevada Arts Council.

The Nevada Arts Council was founded in 1967 as a state agency charged with developing and promoting the arts in Nevada.
