artshow.jpg – Call for Art

artshow.jpg is an open call at The Lab @ el Mercado at the Boulevard Mall. Juried by Mary Sabo, this exhibition navigates digital culture and complex translations of visual nuance. Memes are a means of communication that often evade logic and build in-crowds exclusive to niches in society. artshow.jpg is an echo chamber of excluded but united means of understanding self, others, and broad abstractions of the world. All media is considered, pedestals are currently unavailable, but floor-based sculpture is allowed.

Mary Sabo is a visual artist and arts administrator living and working in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her work combines elements of painting, drawing, sculpture, and digital collage to construct and explore hidden realms within our world and culture. She is driven by the exploration of fantasy, nostalgia, decay, the absorption of content, and the processing of information. She is drawn to dirt, rituals, mythology, and conspiracies. Sabo graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in sculpture, and has shown work and participated in projects throughout the Mojave desert and beyond.

The Arts Community Coalition Nevada (ACCNV) is a 501(c)3 organization for the future of art in Nevada. The ACCNV advocates for artists by designing programming focused on socially engaged artist research and community projects. Our mission is to cultivate a supportive community where art thrives. We strive to enable Nevada artists to exercise their humanitarian need for expression and advocacy through art.
