Creating art and the creative process is a personal journey. It's a time of experimentation, stimulated by solving problems and, most of all, putting your mind in the exercise of observation, wonder, and play. Carol Foldvary-Anderson has found creating art to be a period of wandering with a destination in mind. It is where making a mistake is the time to try something new, another way to succeed. She is patient with her students and knows that when a challenge is overcome, the experience of joy is a sign of success. Creating is the constant ebb and flow of uncertainty and certainty. In the visual arts, it is making a mark, making a statement, opening yourself up, and sharing that private self with others. She makes the creation of art comfortable and easy.
The beginning of a creative adventure leads to another, and with persistence and focus, it continues. Foldvary-Anderson has found that the process of creating can consume her mind and soul, an adventure that instills an activity of thought, and doing that can't be found anywhere else but inside and from her. The problems and challenges once faced can be overcome, with a success that at one time consumed her thoughts.
The end of one product of ""art"" is a stepping stone to the next creative piece. Creating art is an ongoing journey where problems are presented, solutions are found, and the experience of the soulful wonder of the process, when flowing quickly and effortlessly, is a magical place to be and exist.
Foldvary-Anderson engages with her students by sharing the knowledge and skills she has learned. Primarily a self-taught artist, she has found ways to make what she has learned available to both beginner and seasoned artists/creatives.
She is an arts educator who has taught for more than 35 years and has made being an artist/educator her life, career, and focus. Join on a creative journey that will lead you to a fulfilling experience. Contact her today to find out what it is to play in creating art and learning a bit about life at the same time.
School & community workshops
Oil Pastel Smudge – “”Oil Pastel is the medium, Smudging is the technique””: Workshops are presented with demonstration videos. Participants are given paper handouts of a diagram to create a self-designed and cut template. The technique shows how basic shapes come to life by smudging and blending several colors together. Discussed will be directional flow, layering of colors and personal creativity. Templates can be utilized again and again to create different works of art. The Round Robin Mandala is a favorite, where participants place their mark on every piece in a controlled situation.
