HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

The Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) Artist Fellowship Award from the Nevada Arts Council recognizes committed artists living in Nevada reaching pivotal moments in their artistic practice who demonstrate sustained excellence in their work. By acknowledging outstanding artistic accomplishments across a body of work the program promotes public awareness and appreciation of the role of the artist in our society. The Artist Fellowship Award is open to one of three disciplines on a rotating three-year timeline: Visual Arts, Literary Arts, Performing Arts.

FISCAL YEAR 2027 Visual Arts DISCIPLINE:

  • Two-Dimensional Works Category such as drawing, mixed media, painting, photography, printmaking, or static digital works. 
  • Three-Dimensional Works and New Genres Category such as craft-based practice, sculpture, installation, performance art, or time-based digital media. (Narrative and documentary filmmakers are ineligible.)  

ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility requirements must be met at the time of application. 

  • Must be a current Nevada resident and have been in residence for at least one year prior to the date of the application
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or have legal permanent resident status
  • Must be at least 21 years old
  • Must not be enrolled as degree-seeking student in a field related to the type of award for which they are applying
  • Artists working in collaborations or in groups must apply as individuals and present their own work
  • Individual artists applying for an Artist Fellowship must be actively practicing in the discipline 
  • Artists who have previously received two Artist Fellowship Awards from the Nevada Arts Council are ineligible
  • Applicants may only apply for one Fellowship (Artist Fellowship Award or Nevada Heritage Fellowship) per fiscal year  

AWARD AMOUNT: $5,000 (no match required)*

Awarded funds will be disbursed upon receipt of the signed awardee documents. The Artist Fellowship Award does not need to be used for any specific expenses or projects and is awarded to the artist as an award. Applications for specific projects should be submitted to the Project Grant for Artists. To stay in compliance and be eligible for future Nevada Arts Council grants or awards, awardees must submit the Final Report by the deadline stated in the award packet.

REVIEW PROCESS/CRITERIA

A review panel will adjudicate eligible applications using the criteria below and make funding recommendations to the Nevada Arts Council Board. Artist Fellowship Award applicants are evaluated using a concealed review process where each applicant is identified by a number for the purpose of panel discussion.   • Clear demonstration of the artist’s intent and process (10 points)
  • Consistency in the exceptional caliber of the work (10 points)
  • Evidence of artistic impact or contribution such as influence within a community or genre of art (10 pts)

  1. Before filling out this application, gather the following narratives and support materials to make the process easier: 
    • Unexpired ID and proof of residency
    • Narrative questions, such as:
      • Artist statement, work description
      • Artistic impact or contribution within a community and/or genre of art
      • A minimum of five (5) and no more than 10 artistic work samples:
        • All produced within the last 10 years
        • At least two (2) sample produced within the last 2 years

¿CÓMO FUNCIONA EL PROGRAMA?

El premio «Beca para artistas» del año fiscal 2027 (FY27) del Nevada Arts Council reconoce a los dedicados artistas residentes en Nevada que han alcanzado hitos significativos en su práctica artística, demostrando una excelencia sostenida. Al reconocer los logros artísticos destacados a través de una colección de obras, el programa fomenta la conciencia pública y el aprecio por el papel del artista en nuestra sociedad. El premio «Beca para artistas» está abierta a una de tres disciplinas en un cronograma rotatorio de tres años: artes visuales, artes literarias, artes escénicas.

DISCIPLINA De artes visuales DEL AÑO FISCAL 2027

  • Categoría de obras bidimensionales como dibujo, técnicas mixtas, pintura, fotografía, grabado u obras digitales estáticas.
  • Categoría de obras tridimensionales y nuevos géneros como prácticas artesanales, esculturas, instalaciones, performances o medios digitales basados en el tiempo. (Los cineastas narrativos y documentales no son elegibles).

ELEGIBILIDAD

Los requisitos de elegibilidad deben cumplirse al momento de la solicitud.

  • Deberá ser residente actual de Nevada y haber residido por al menos un año antes de la fecha de solicitud
  • Deberá ser ciudadano estadounidense o tener estatus de residente permanente legal
  • Debe tener 21 años o más
  • No debe estar inscrito como estudiante que aspira a un título relacionado al tipo de la subvención que solicita
  • Los artistas que trabajan en colaboración o en grupo deberán presentar su solicitud individualmente
  • Los artistas individuales que solicitan una beca para artistas deberán dedicarse activamente a la disciplina 
  • Los artistas que han recibido anteriormente dos o más becas del Nevada Arts Council no serán elegibles
  • Los solicitantes solo pueden solicitar una beca (Beca para Artistas o Beca Nevada Heritage) por año fiscal

MONTO DEL PREMIO: $5,000 (no se requiere fondos paralelos)

Los fondos concedidos se abonarán cuando el adjudicatario entregue sus documentos firmados. El premio de la Beca para Artistas no tiene que ser usado para gastos específicos ni proyectos y es concedido al artista como un premio. Para proyectos específicos, debe solicitar la Beca para proyectos artísticos. Todos los adjudicatarios deberán presentar un informe final en línea antes de la fecha indicada en su paquete de premio para mantener su elegibilidad y poder solicitar subvenciones y premios del Nevada Arts Council en el futuro.

PROCESO DE REVISIÓN Y CRITERIOS

Un panel de revisión evaluará las solicitudes que cumplen con los requisitos utilizando los criterios establecidos a continuación y presentará recomendaciones de financiamiento a la Junta del Nevada Arts Council. Los solicitantes del premio de becas para artistas serán evaluados mediante un proceso de revisión oculto en el que se identificará a cada solicitante por un número para mantener el anonimato durante el panel de discusión.   • Demostración clara del propósito y proceso del artista (10 puntos)
  • Consistencia en la calidad excepcional de la obra (10 puntos)
  • Pruebas del impacto o contribución artística como la influencia dentro de una comunidad o género artístico específico (10 puntos)

RECURSOS

  1. Antes de completar esta solicitud, reúna las siguientes narraciones y materiales de apoyo para facilitar el proceso:
    • Documento de identidad vigente y comprobante de residencia
    • Preguntas narrativas, como:
      • Declaración del artista, descripción de la obra
      • Impacto o contribución artística dentro de una comunidad y/o género de arte
      • Un mínimo de cinco (5) y no más de diez (10) muestras de trabajos artísticos:
        • Todo producido en los últimos 10 años.
        • Al menos dos (2) muestras producidas en los últimos 2 años
